Gulf Coast Monthly
GCC Newsletter - April 2020
Coordinator's Corner
With everything in flux due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, there has not been much activity in the GCC as of late and with good reason. Based on the current situation, Brewer-Sailors looks to be a non-starter at this point at least in the month of April and quite possibly May. The status of Bayou Wars is still an open question as things keep evolving. If and when I receive any information relating to the status of Bayou Wars, I will send out a special announcement to everyone.
If during this time of social distancing, you have any painting or other gaming projects going on that you would like to share, send them my way and I will include them in the newsletter for the membership to gawk at. In the background, you will see the map for the Broken Rays of the Sun campaign that I am playtesting. If you want to see the full map and read more about the campaign setting, visit me blog at https://bloodsandsteel.blogspot.com/.
Cold Iron V was a fun time even if we were not able to get to 6 players. Thanks to the Bunnies for making it enjoyable to run. Final results are later in the newsletter.
Cold Iron V: FOG Open Tournament Final Results
The 5th installment of Cold Iron V has successfully concluded. While we did not have six qualifying players for it to make for GCC points, the players involved seemed to enjoy themselves and it was a pleasure to run for them. Keeping it in the basement of Casa de Anders allowed me to waive the tournament fee for everyone so it ended up being a free day of gaming.
1. Scott Allen - Medieval Scandinavian - 239 points - 2 wins, 1 draw
2. Brett Stieffel - Alexandrian Macedonian - 202 points - 2 wins, 1 loss
3. Joey Miller - Ottoman Turks - 131 points - 1 win, 2 losses
4. Vince Solfronk - Anglo-Irish - 71 points - 2 losses, 1 draw
Scott defeated Brett & Joey but drew against Vince in the last round.
Brett defeated Joey & Vince but lost to Scott.
Joey defeated Vince but lost to Scott & Joey.
Vince drew Scott but lost to Brett & Joey.
I hope to run Cold Iron VI next year if we have enough interest and there is a good chance that Average Joe will return to HUBCON this year as well.
