ECONOMIC: NAFTA and Monetary

Opens markets throughout the world to create new opportunities and higher living standards for families, Farmers, Manufacturers, workers, consumers, and businesses.


Monetary Policy

the process by which the monetary authority of a country controls the supply of money, often targeting a rate of interest for the purpose of promoting economic growth and stability.

Social: Voting and Civil Rights Act

Civil Rights Act

outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. It ended unequal application of voter registration requirements and racial segregation in schools, at the workplace and by facilities that served the general public


Voting Rights Act

allowed for a mass enfranchisement of racial minorities throughout the country, especially in the south. According to the U.S Department of Justice, the Act is considered to be the most effective piece of Civil Rights legislation ever enacted in the country.

Welfare: TANF and Medicaid

TANF

designed to help needy families achieve self-sufficiency. States receive block grants to design and operate programs that accomplish one of the purposes of the TANF program.

Medicaid

Medicaid helps seniors and people with disabilities receive long term services and supports in their communities as well as in nursing homes. These programs provide an important foundation for maintaining the health of our nation

ENVIRONMENTAL: Endangered species and Clean Air

Clean Air Act

designed to control air pollution on a national level. It requires the EPA to develop and enforce regulations to protect the public from airborne containments known to be hazardous to human health.


ESA

The purpose of the ESA is to protect and recover imperiled species and the ecosystems upon which they depend.
