Leader in Me - Habit #1 - BE PROACTIVE
Trombly has begun its journey in becoming a Leader in Me school. Our first task was to create leadership classrooms. Classes talked about the physical environment, the emotional environment, leadership roles and how to hold each other accountable. The next step has been creating mission statements for the classroom. In some classes, students have written their own personal mission statements. Having completed those tasks, we are ready to begin teaching the 7 Habits.
For the month of November, we will be focusing on Habit #1 - Be Proactive, The Habit of Personal Responsibility. Being Proactive focuses on being responsible for one’s actions, moods, attitudes and behavior. Along with that, one also uses proactive language - I can; I am sorry; I choose to; I will get this done; let’s look at all the options; there must be something we can do.
A great conversation to have with your child is to identify how they can be more proactive at home and grow their personal responsibilities. Taking personal responsibilities is a sign of leadership.
