All students: As you and your families go off to enjoy the summer and we balance our time with more work, classes, and families, the reality is that you may still need those relationships, supports, and resources that you often get at school. I want to share a very important resource with you and your family. FirstLink has a 24/7 helpline accessible to students to call or text. Any time you need help navigating life’s circumstances, you can call or text the 2-1-1 helpline. Trained staff will lend a listening ear and support to those experiencing fear, anxiety, or worry, etc. FirstLink helps hungry mothers find food, hurting teens find hope, grandmas and grandpas keep their home heated, and so much more. Further information can be accessed in the office.
When you were little, did you ever run just for the sake of running? Not to win a race, but just to run, to let your feet fly, to pump your arms and legs and breathe hard? It felt good, didn't it? That's really what athletics is all about. It's not just about winning or about being the best, it's about getting into action . . . challenging yourself. And yes, it's fun to compete and win trophies and ribbons, but feeling a sense of accomplishment and purpose is really more important. This summer vacation, get your body moving! Keep active! Get out and run just for the sake of running. And remember this Bulgarian wisdom: From walking __ something. From sitting __ nothing. Nothing good is going to come from just sitting around all summer. Get out. Walk and jog and swim and run . . . just for the fun of it. With something to think about, this is Mr. Martin. Make it a great day . . . or not. The choice is yours.
