2. The lounge sink has been getting pretty full. On Thursday morning I washed all of the dishes in there. PLEASE clean up after yourself. If you use a plate, utensil or mug wash it at that time and then put it away. YOUR MAMA DON'T WORK HERE! :)
3. LOST AND FOUND IS FULL- please take your class by the table and rack to look through every item. All items will be donated over Winter Break!
4. Please remind your room parents that there are no edible treats for winter parties and no edible treats in treat bags.
5. We now have the ability to pay teachers to cover classes during prep times. You will make $25 for the 45 minutes that you cover. However, doing so in a gen ed class is not ideal due to kids having a different teacher every 45 minutes with 5 minutes uncovered in between and there are portions of the day when there are no prep times. The pay is only when you give up your prep time, according to the new contract.
If we get into another situation where a RA class needs covered we will follow the protocol we utilized today. The priority will go to the classroom teacher, whose students are scheduled to be in the RA class. If he/she can't do it, then we will offer it to other teachers in the grade level on prep time. If no one is available then we will have to pull an IA or another staff member to cover that class.

Ways to Respond to Independent Reading, Read with A Buddy, or Read Aloud Time~

Literacy Activities That Engage the Brain~
Cause and Effect Chain: Have students answer cause and effect questions by forming a cause-effect chain. Have students stand and form a circle. Begin the circle by stating a cause. Then next person in the circle to the left repeats the cause and gives an effect that follows the stated cause. The next person to the left continues the cause and effect chain. For example: I had to stay in my room all day. I had to stay in my room all day, so I could not go outside and play. I could not go outside and play, so I began to cry, etc.
Reaching ALL Learners
Students keenly sense teachers’ attitudes toward them, so a positive, optimistic attitude is crucial. Make the decision to engage every student every day. Affirm students. Affirm students for being at school on time, for being seated on time, and for contributing to class discussions. Students need you to believe in them so that they can believe in themselves. Students need to see, hear, and feel the caring.
Relationships can affect brain capacity! Love and support correlate with increased hippocampus size-the area most responsible for learning, memory, and emotional regulation.
Upgrade your interactive language. During every single interaction with your students, make eye contact and affirm the good in them.
