We're off to a great start!

Thanks to all our amazing SA students and parents for working together this fall to help make our school a wonderful place to be! We appreciate your time, effort, and commitment. Please contact your advisor if you need any assistance.

Connecting during Zoom Meetings - Please leave cameras on

As we head into our final week of zoom classes for September, be reminded that the expectation is to keep your cameras on (unless you make an alternate rearrangement with the teacher prior to class).

Reasons to keep the camera rolling during class time:

  • Allows for the engagement of all participants in-class activities and information.
  • Minimizes outside-of-class distractions for the participant (video games, looking at phone, etc.)
  • Verifies the attendance of the participant.
  • Creates a connection between teacher and students, and student to peers.
  • Allows for practice for real-world online experiences (Interviews, college classes, work meetings). Video calls are the 'new normal'.

Strategies for becoming comfortable in front of a camera:

  1. Acknowledge the feeling
  2. Limit your video time outside of Zoom sessions
  3. Plan your lighting so you are well lit
  4. Practice (during Zoom or outside of class time)
  5. Focus on others
  6. Pretend you are in-person
