GKMS 7th Grade Weekly Newsletter
Week of May 16th, 2022
Mrs. Ewald’s and Mrs. Fowler’s Reading and Language Arts
Mrs. Boyer's Reading Advancement Program
This week, we read about the Berlin Wall and worked on inferencing. Next week, we are going to read an article about energy drinks. The reading skill we will focus on will be taking a stand on a topic and supporting it with evidence. After that article, we will wrap up with some of our end of the year activities. Please take a moment to look at your student's growth in Achieve 3000. I am so proud of all of them.
MATH - Mr. Kolb
Accelerated 7 students will review also for and complete their Final CSA (test) of the school year on Tuesday, May 17th. This CSA will cover Geometric Transformations and the Pythagorean Theorem. After that, will discuss a few topics that we didn't have a chance to go into detail on earlier in the year.
Thank you for sharing your students with us this school year!
SOCIAL STUDIES - Mrs. Hess
Students did a great job on their Civil War Test this week! It was a fun reward to watch the movie Glory for the rest of the week. Next week, we will be wrapping up the year by creating ABC books filled with all of the topics we learned about in social studies. It’s hard to believe we are already at the last full week of school!
SCIENCE - Mrs. Arndt
Now that we are done with our final assessment, we can spend the last week enjoying our baby chicks!!!!! We had a total of 19 hatch and it was a very exciting week with students coming in every period, going straight to the back to see our babies. What a wonderful way to allow students the experience of witnessing the growth and development of a living thing right here in the classroom :)
