Weekly Junior High Update
October 19, 2018
Time to celebrate, reflect, and set goals!
Please take time to celebrate the hard work and efforts your scholar has put forth this quarter. Talk about goals they would like to achieve 2nd quarter academically, socially, and even physically or emotionally. Also talk about the steps they will need to take to achieve these goals. All our scholars have learned about SMART goals, so please encourage your scholars to put that knowledge into action!

Find that Evidence!
In 8th grade Language & Literature, scholars are working on being able to identify the strongest evidence from text to support their claim. In the lesson featured, scholars were asked to find evidence from Inside Out and Back Again of Ha turning inside out, or Ha turning back again. Once they had found 3 pieces of evidence to support their ideas, they posted them on the corresponding chart. As a class, they then discussed the validity of said evidence and whether it strongly supported the proper claims.
Building Relationships!
High school scholars from the Minotaur football team came over to visit with scholars during their lunch. We work hard throughout the year to help our 8th grade scholars begin to build relationships and feel connected and comfortable with our OI High School campus, scholars, and staff.
Help us bring more technology into the classrooms!
