Pratt's Primary Corner
Weekly Update- February 28, 2020
Week at a Glance
Math- We took our unit 4 test this week and will move into unit 5- multiplication and division. Although we have "finished" our unit on fractions we will continue to revisit this skill throughout the year.
Writing- Next week we will begin our opinion unit. We have finished publishing our personal narratives and we can't wait to share them with you.
Social Studies- Through our author study we have had many conversations about slavery, segregation, and American history. Students generated a list of questions they've been researching on their own, during independent reading time. Some of the questions they came up with are:
- Who started segregation?
- Did other countries ever have segregation?
- Why was the Underground Railroad given its name?
Science- Dr. Joyner came in this week to discuss the heart and its function in the body. We got to listen to our hearts through a stethoscope, see x-rays of a healthy vs unhealthy heart, and make observations of an actual heart (cow and pig hearts).
