Bright Stars

Lana DeHoff, Tesesa Jablonski, Jackie Johnson, Sharyl Serafin, and Rachel Kemper-I want to thank Lana for allowing my class to display their Geometry Cities in the library. I also want to thank Teresa, Lana, and Jackie for helping me move all the cities down to the library. Also, to Sharyl Serafin and Rachel Kemper, thanks for letting me rearrange math so that my kids could work on these cities each week. Nominated by Deb Martin

Cafeteria Staff-Thank you so much for helping my class make cookies. I know that was extra work on your part and I appreciate it! You made their day! Nominated by Laura Dondzila

Sherri Brackney-No matter what is happening in the classroom when Sheri walks in, she rolls her sleeves up and wears a smile through all her time. She is an amazing teacher and all the kids fight for their chance to spend a minute with her! Whether it’s raining or shining in here, I can always count on Sherri to coteach with me. Nominated by Laura Dondzila

Rachel Kemper-- I asked Rachel for a math game last minute. She didn’t get one for me, she MADE me five of them by the end of the day! They were awesome and super organized. My kids loved them! Nominated by Teresa Jablonski

Deb Martin and Colby Heckathorne-When I was sick all last week my team was so incredibly helpful. When I was gone they helped me get stuff ready for a sub and when I needed to be at school they were right there with “How can I help you?” and cups of hot chocolate! Nominated by Teresa Jablonski

Math Tier II and III

We are fortunate to have the ability to pilot a math tier II and III program at Starside. Rachel Kemper has worked hard with research and ideas on how to effectively go about starting a program. We are now ready to roll up the sleeves and see if this initial brainstorm can become a reality. I would like to thank everyone for the support you have given and willingness to adjust schedules in order to accommodate this idea.

The first step in this process will be giving a universal screen to all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. I am asking to borrow all laptops carts on the following dates and times:

Tuesday, Jan 21st--9am-10:30am (3rd Grade)

Tuesday, Jan 21st--1:15-2:45pm (4th Grade)

Wednesday, Jan 22nd--10:00-11:30am (5th Grade)

Please let us know as we work through this process of any questions or suggestions you may have to give our kids the best possible chance for growth in math.
