The Oaklandon Elementary Gazette
A newsletter for our families and students
Spring has Sprung at Oaklandon!
Spring is finally here! Red winged blackbirds are chirping, leaves on trees are unfolding, and tadpoles are swimming in our pond. Of course, it also means that spring break is here. School will not be in session on Thursday or Friday of this week, and students will enjoy being off the next week too. School will be out beginning on Thursday, March 24th until Sunday, April 3rd. The first day back will be on Monday, April 4th.
We wish you and your family a safe and happy week together.
There is more to this than just playing!
Students at Oaklandon are learning about teamwork and peaceful problem solving by playing in nature. Natural Play is important to the healthy development of children.
Service Projects and Clubs
Some of the clubs that many of our students are involved in include Camptown, Running Club, Civics Club, Girls Inc., Kids in Action, K Kids, and Student Council. Our students have raised money for many different causes including The American Heart Association and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Worm Fun
Students are given hands on learning opportunities even with worms! The chickens and ducks were excited to receive these treats from our 1st and 2nd graders.
Mark your calendars for the events below!
The Scholastic Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair will begin on Monday, April 4th and end on Friday, April 8th. All students will be given the opportunity to visit the book fair on Monday for a preview.
Parents are welcome too! If you would like to volunteer, please call our office and ask to speak to Mrs. Marburger.
PFO Meeting
Join us for our Parent Faculty Organization (PFO) Meeting on April 5th in Miss Yahnke's room at 6:30 pm. We will be discussing an upcoming trash bag fundraiser and Earth Day.
