MCCHS FRIDAY FOCUS
189th EDITION: April 9, 2021
From the Desk of Mr. Curtis Price
Marian Central Athletics joined the East Suburban Catholic Conference (ESCC) in 2014. The conference consists of Benet Academy, Carmel, Joliet Catholic, Marian Catholic, Marist, Nazareth, Notre Dame, St. Patrick, and St. Viator. The ESCC is one of the strongest conferences in the state of Illinois. Every year the conference is well represented during the IHSA State Series in every sport.
While members of the ESCC, Marian Central has experienced some success. Our volleyball team won a State championship in 2015 and was a State Finalist the following year. Our wrestling program is one of the best programs in the state and have won back-to-back conference championships. Several wrestlers have also placed in the top six at State Finals, including 3-time State Champion, Dylan Connell. Our wrestling team finished 3rd place at the IHSA State Finals in 2019. Marian Central girls’ track and field team won Sectionals in 2019 which earned them a trip to the State Finals. Several other teams and individuals have achieved great accomplishments while competing in the ESCC.
Over the past few years, Marian Central has seen a decline in participation in several sports. The Athletic Department has been in contact with several other conferences in the state to find the perfect fit for us. Our time in the East Suburban Catholic Conference is slowly coming to an end. If the ESCC cannot bring in schools that are similar in size to Marian Central, then the 2021-22 school year will be our last. If we cannot find a conference, we will become independent and not have a conference affiliation. I will continue to pursue a conference that is comparable to us and believe we will find that fit for our student-athletes.
Tuition Reminder
All student tuition accounts should be paid in full at this time. According to school policy, students are not allow to take semester exams unless tuition and any fees are paid in full.
PAYMENT POLICY: No student will be allowed to take first semester exams unless his/her tuition is current. Therefore, a minimum of one-half of the family tuition must be paid prior to the first semester exams. No student will be allowed to take second semester exams unless his/her tuition and any other fees are paid in full. In the event a family finds itself in an extraordinary circumstance, a request for an exception to the first semester payment policy can be made to the Superintendent. The written request is to include an explanation of the extraordinary circumstance accompanied by a payment plan. The Superintendent has the authority to make such an exception if it is deemed appropriate and the payment plan is acceptable. A family’s payment history will be examined in making such a decision. There are no exceptions to this policy at the end of the second semester. Once two weeks of a quarter are completed, the full quarter's tuition is required.
