Registration Fees Canceled for 2020-21

Will County School District 92 understands the financial hardship that the current COVID-19 pandemic has put on a number of District 92 families. In an effort to support our community, the Board of Education has approved waiving the student registration fees for the 2020-21 school year.

Families who have already paid their fees will be reimbursed as soon as the Business Office can process the refunds. We ask for your patience as this process may take a few weeks. Families who paid fees for 2020-21 but still owe previous fees will have their payments applied to any balance owed.

District 92 hopes that canceling student registration fees provides all of our families an additional boost during these challenging times.

Congratulations 8th Graders & Thank You D92 PFA!

We are so proud of our 8th grade Class of 2020 and the way they have made D92 a special place to learn over the years! Their accomplishments are what make D92 unique!

Given the unusual end of the school year, the D92 PFA wanted to do something special to recognize our 8th graders. This year all D92 teachers were invited to deliver yard signs to our graduates! This was a touching event that made the end of the year very special for students and staff alike!

Check out this video of our 8th grade Class of 2020 receiving their signs from D92 staff!

Grading System for Remote Learning - Pass/Incomplete

Never before have schools had to combine a traditional letter grade system (A, B, C, D, or F) with a Pass/Incomplete grading system. Our D92 team gave this issue a considerable amount of thought and have developed a Pass/Incomplete Grading Matrix.

The Pass/Incomplete Grading Matrix combines the traditional grades that students received through March 13, 2020 with the pass/incomplete system that the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) established for remote learning.

This year, in order to determine a final "grade" for each subject, teachers will use the matrix to select the row that includes the letter grade that the student was receiving as of March 13 (left-hand side of the chart) and then the column that reflects how engaged the student was during remote learning (top of the chart).

We believe that this process enables us to remain in compliance with ISBE guidelines for grading students during remote learning and communicate individual student achievement and effort during this unprecedented time in education.

Report Cards Mailed Home

Report card will be mailed home for all students in early June. A copy of the Pass/Incomplete Grading Matrix will be included in report cards.

Returning to School - Fall 2020

The biggest unanswered question we all have is, "What will the return to school look like for 2020-21?" The answer to that question will have to wait until we are closer to the scheduled first day of school. Here is the current 2020-21 school calendar. All schools are closely monitoring plans at the state and local level. Regardless of the plan, rest assured safety will drive every decision for D92. The CDC has developed a list of Considerations for Schools to reopen.

We are currently considering multiple options for what a return to school might look like. In no particular order, here are some possibilities:

  • Face-to-face on the scheduled start date
  • Staggered face-to-face return to school (e.g. 1/2 students on one day and then the other 1/2 of students on the next day, continuing on a rotating basis)
  • Delayed start of school for face-to-face learning (e.g. sometime in September)
  • Remote Learning continues with modifications
  • Or some combination of the options listed above

How and when we return to school in the fall will depend on which phase the State of Illinois is in at that time. We all want to return to what we know works best for our students ~ students learning from teachers in a classroom setting. D92 will move forward with plans that ensure the safety of each student and staff member.

iPads During Summer Break

All D92 students who will be returning to the district in 2020-21 will be allowed to use their district-owned iPad during the summer months. Families who will not be returning to a D92 school need to contact the building principal to make arrangements to return the device after May 28.

All of the installed applications will be maintained on the devices and any necessary syncs will be completed when students return to school in the fall.
