OLMP Catholic School
Weekly Bulletin - April 12th, 2019
High School leadership students have organized Easter activities outlined in the poster below and we also have Easter celebrations planned for the Tuesday after Easter Monday.
Moving into Holy Week!
Holy Week can often be an overwhelming time for families, especially as they prepare for Easter festivities. The liturgies of Holy Week – the Chrism Mass, Holy Thursday, and Good Friday – are often considered the height of the liturgical year and should be attended if at all possible.
During Holy Week consider sharing a time of family prayer, reciting prayers, taking turns leading each night. You may also consider printing off images of each station of the cross, placing them around the house, walking and praying with your family. It is also a good idea to attend confession during Holy Week as well. Even if it has been a while since you’ve been to confession, be encouraged to return to the Sacrament and be washed by God’s mercy.
Mothers Day Plant Fundraiser done on Monday!
All planter sales are due Monday to homeroom teachers. Our hope is that every student at OLMP has sold at least one planter. Help us to raise money for those in need while we contemplate giving during the Lenten season.

OLMP Program Highlight
This week we are highlighting the Music Programs at OLMP, which we are working to expand. We are excited about programming options for next year and beyond!
Presently all grade 5 & 6 students take a general music class weekly. This year, students in grades 9-12 have had the option to take General Music 10 with a focus on the fundamentals of playing the acoustic guitar and basic music literacy. Beginning in September 2019, students in grades 7 and 8 will also have a music option. Guitar instruction will continue next year, with the addition of piano/keyboard skills and digital music production. We are very fortunate to be the recipient of a $5000 donation from the Shuter Tribute Committee, which has been used to purchase digital pianos and headphones from Martha’s Music. Our hope is to secure funding to complete a class set for the piano lab, consisting of twelve full-size digital pianos, along with headphones and iPads for each station. This equipment will be used to provide students with a fun and exciting opportunity to learn piano technique, play solo and in an ensemble, explore digital music production and recording techniques using iPads and other recording equipment, and have a creative outlet through music composition assignments. The instructor for these classes is Mr. Olson, and he can be contacted at erik.olson@eics.ab.ca with any questions about the music program.

Community Events:
Camrose Bike Fest - Sell Bikes / Buy Bikes / Bike Safety
On April 27th KidSport will be hosting their 3rd Annual KidSport Camrose Bike Fest which includes a bike consignment sale. KidSport is currently looking for donations or consignments of bikes in good working condition for the sale. Bikes can be dropped off at Lamb Ford or the morning of the event.
The proceeds of the sale of bikes that are donated are 100% allocated towards funding registration costs for youth participating in sport (in Camrose and Camrose County). For bikes consigned there is a $2.00 consignment cost per bike with 15% being donated to KidSport Camrose.
For many in the community the sale is an opportunity to purchase a bike at a significant cost savings, allowing kid and adults to be active and mobile.

Book Recommendation
Book Recommended: The Day the Crayons Quit
Author: Drew Daywalt
Recommended by: Kenzington and Kendall Reinhart (Mr. & Mrs. Reinhart's children)
Book Description: Poor Duncan just wants to color. But when he opens his box of crayons, he finds only letters, all saying the same thing: His crayons have had enough! They quit! Beige Crayon is tired of playing second fiddle to Brown Crayon. Black wants to be used for more than just outlining. Blue needs a break from coloring all those bodies of water. And Orange and Yellow are no longer speaking—each believes he is the true color of the sun. What can Duncan possibly do to appease all of the crayons and get them back to doing what they do best?
Why it is recommended:
This book was recommended as a good family book and both the kids and I loved reading this book before bedtime (Mr. Reinhart).
