From the Desk of Dr. Rodriguez
Each year, the Riviera Schools Parents Club partners with the organization, iPads for Soldiers, to send iPads to many injured American troops around the world. Soldiers use the iPads for a myriad of reasons, but the most important one is to stay connected to their families at home. Now, this is a wonderful initiative in and of itself, but I have to say that what the soldiers appreciate even more than the iPads are the letters our Day School students send them with the iPads. Technology is wonderful when it is our only way to connect with our loved ones, but when it is paired with messages filled with the beautiful sentiments of our little ones, the gift becomes something so much greater than just a tablet. It reminds our soldiers of their purpose in the world and that they are greatly appreciated by the very people they are protecting. The letters our students write to the soldiers are filled with messages of hope for their safe return, gratitude for their bravery, and recognition of how hard it must be to leave their families just to protect all of us. We would like to thank the Parents Club for giving our students the opportunity to recognize the dedication our troops have to protecting our country. Hopefully, the letters made our troops smile.
Have a wonderful weekend and please be sure to check out next week's Friday at 4:00!
Sincerely,
Dr. Rodriguez

Whodunit?! Continued
The mystery is solved! Fifth grade students finished reading the classic whodunit, The Westing Game, and as a culminating activity, dressed up as their favorite character from the book. Was the puzzle solver Otis Amber, enthusiastic delivery boy on a bike with a private investigator side gig? Could it possibly have been Theo Theodorakis looking for a way to fund his expensive studies in chemistry? Or maybe it was Turtle Wexler, youngest of the possible heirs but evidently the most intelligent of the bunch. Perhaps it was all a ruse by Sam Westing, mad millionaire extraordinaire, so he could have a little bit of fun and determine who was actually worthy of his money and control of his company. We can't tell you, but you can find out if you read the book yourself! Thank you, Ms. Ley, for this awesome activity . . . it was one that our students will treasure for many years to come.
