Mrs. Shockley's January Happenings
Snowmen!!!!
We spent the day mixing up Elmer's glue and shaving cream to make puffy paint. We then glued together pieces of a snowman and covered with our white puffy paint. We also made named our snowmen from a choice of 2 names.
Music
We work on gripping items during music time. We listen to a variety of music and work on holding on to musical instruments independently.
Bowling
The class spent the day at Boulevard Bowling Lanes. We had lots of fun and everyone was able to push the ball independently using the ramp. We followed bowling with lunch at CiCi's Pizza.
Foods of a country reports
We chose a country to research. We read a section of a book about the food of that country, made that countries flag and found that country on a map. We also had to fill out a book report paper.
Snowflakes
We got very excited when we heard of the possibility of snow. We colored snowflakes and painted them with a mixture of shaving cream and glue to help cheer on the snow.
Names
We also used the shaving cream and glue mixture to practice writing and spelling our names.
The Floating Eggs
We completed a science experiment on floating eggs. We had to make our predictions. We had to decide if eggs would float in water, and if eggs would float in salt water. We used communication devices and pictures to make our choices. We used a switch adapted pouring cup to fill the glasses with water and water and salt and put in the eggs. We found out eggs will float in salt water, but not in water.
Martin Luther King Junior
We learned a lot about Martin Luther King Jr. this month. We listened to the picture book Martin's Big Words, created a picture time line of his life, made a poster of Mr. King's pictures and picked words describing him to create Tagxedo's with.
Always Having Fun
No matter what we are working on, we always try our best to have fun and work hard!
