What you really need to know.
- Our new classmate, Hartman, joined K-C this week! His family has relocated from El Salvador to Needham. Your children have been so welcoming and helpful to our new friend. As a bonus, our class is learning lots of Spanish vocabulary. Welcome to Hartman and his family
- We will soon begin our end of year ABC countdown, when we have just 26 days of school remaining. Look in your child's green folder for the calendar of activities by the end of this week.
- Thank you to all of the K-C families for your awesomely thoughtful notes in honor of teacher appreciation week! They were absolutely amazing and uplifting. This is really and truly the best job ever. You should all consider a career change. I'm not kidding.
- HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! There is something special for each mom in your child's backpack.

What we've been up to.
- We enjoyed an incredible puppet show production of the Dragon King by the Tanglewood Marionettes. It was absolutely fantastic. The sets, lifelike marionettes and interactive storytelling were outstanding. I think I've used my quota of superlatives for the week, so the rest of the news will be less dramatically satisfying.
- We have been working on recognizing facts of ten and calculating subtotals and totals of groups in tables we've created.
- Our morning greetings this week included "Me llamo" and "Hola".
- We learned two new math games: roll and race to color the sun and CVC Bingo.
- Our dramatic play center is now a post office! Please send in envelopes, stickers, stamps/ink pads, or stationary you no longer need.
- We have updated our plant journals to reflect some rapid plant growth.

The things kids say. For real.
Our new friend is adjusting to our classroom routine beautifully, with the support of many helpful kindergartners.
It was certainly not surprising that he was quiet, at first. As the morning wore on, he watched carefully and participated in everything.
Then came snack time and he uttered his first words, in Spanish.
Mrs. Conrad, our ELL teacher, and I rushed to find a translation.
"Where is the trash can?"
Love.
