Message From Mrs. Runnels
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! It is with great joy that I say THANK YOU to each and every one of our SACBS families, faculty and staff, and supporters. We held our annual Chicken DInner fundraiser, and this is the first year in a long time that we were able to have 100% participation from every family, faculty & staff. This was a huge help to us in reaching our goal of $20,000 and making things run smoothly Friday.
None of this would have been possible without the leadership of our Chicken Dinner Chairperson, Ms. Rose Mary Martin. Our Chicken Dinner committee and the team of amazing volunteers, led by example from start to finish. We are grateful to all of you who came out Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to prep, cook, pack, and clean up afterwards. There is so much that goes on behind the scenes that is imperative to have things run smoothly. All of you who helped behind the scenes are truly appreciated for giving of your time, talent and treasure to make this a success. Our Superintendent of Catholic Schools, Dr. Nichols, came out to not only purchase but to help us pack dinners. Everyone was thankful for the support from Dr. Nichols. She exemplified the words of St. Anthony of Padua, "Let your words teach and your actions speak."
It warmed my heart to have so many alumni and family members come out to support us. A grandparent (pictured with me) of one of our alumni, Justin Maze-SACBS class of 2018, came out to volunteer and help even though her grandson is in high school. She stopped by because Justin, a senior at Kelly High School, wanted to make a monetary donation to his former school and asked her to bring it to us. Every year we have these amazing supporters of St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica School come back to continue this tradition. What a wonderful testament to the great school community we have.
I will give you the final totals once we add in sponsors and subtract for our expenses. A few pictures from our wonderful Chicken Dinner can be viewed further down in this newsletter. Thanks again Bulldog Families!
As we get ready for a brand new week and gift from God, let's continue to bring Jesus to everyone we meet through our words and actions!
God Bless,
Mrs. Runnels

St. Theresa of Calcutta Award Recipients
Congratulations to our September St. Teresa of Calcutta award recipients. Teachers submit nominations every month, and students are recognized at the first mass of the following month.
St. Teresa of Calcutta dedicated her life to helping the poor, and was considered one of the greatest humanitarians of the 20th century. She once said, “Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.”
Teachers felt that the following students display similar qualities that Mother Teresa did, and are exemplarily ambassadors of St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica School:
September Recipients:
Top (l-r):
Ethan Young - 7th Grade
Anahi Abarca - 2nd Grade
Bottom (l-r):
Montzerrat Rios - Pre-K4
Tomas Castillo - 5th Grade
Report Card Conferences
This year our report card conferences are going to be different, since we do not have the full day set aside as in the past. Report Cards were sent home Friday, Oct. 15th in the Friday Folders. Click the links listed below, to sign up for a day and time to meet with your child's teacher/s over the next few weeks. Conferences will be held by phone or virtually, which will be decided by each teacher. As always, if you have any questions, contact your child's teacher or call the school office.
Happy Birthday !

Spanish Class
Ms. Davila's 6th graders reviewed subject pronouns and the irregular verb ser.
Students then played a Kahoot to test their knowledge and understanding of the irregular verb and its use. They did a great job and had fun while practicing! Students are doing a wonderful job at setting a strong foundation for their language learning.
