Thank You to Our Library Volunteers
As another school year draws to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful library volunteers. Granger Elementary is fortunate to have parents who recognize the value of parent involvement and have a strong desire to make a positive impact in the lives of our children. We have had several individuals who have been extremely generous with their time and volunteered on a weekly basis; others have helped with special projects. Through the course of this school year, our volunteers have shelved more than 38,000 books, worked the circulation desk, assisted students with finding books in the library, created library decorations, served as judges for our Battle of the Books competition, assisted with our book fair fundraisers, offered support during Lego Robotics meetings and much more.
Thank you to the following volunteers for donating your time and talents to serve the students and faculty of Kay Granger Elementary.

Library Resource News
Thanks to the tremendous support of our PTA and parent volunteers, our 2016-2017 library fundraisers were an astounding success!
Our Spring Book Fair generated over $2,500 in cash profit and over $1,000 in free books for the library and classrooms. The cash profit has enabled us to purchase additional furniture, books, and materials for the library.
Our opening collection has expanded from 4,911 books to more than 12,512 books with additional orders scheduled to arrive soon. Our goal is to have an exemplary library collection of 18,000 books. Each year we are getting closer to achieving this goal. Thank you for continued support of the Granger library program.
Summer Reading
Numerous studies have shown the importance of reading during the summer. Students who read over the summer months maintain or improve their reading skills while students who do not typically lose some of the reading achievement gained during the previous school year.
Assist your child in becoming a record-breaking reader by encouraging reading throughout the summer and engaging him/her in conversations about books.
