WEEK 5

Parent- Teacher conferences are coming up very soon (September 25-26). Notes went home this past week for you to sign up for your preferred time. These are very short informational meetings where we can share: goals for your student, behavior concerns, individual plans for intervention/enrichment, etc. Please return these forms by Tuesday so we can schedule your children's conferences on the same night in an efficient way.

We will also host our bi-annual book fair during conference week. The book fair will be open late on Monday and Tuesday night to accommodate evening shopping. We will also host a food drive in conjunction with the book fair for our food pantry out back.

PTA:

Our first PTA meeting was a great success! We had several new parents join and we want you to be next! Our October meeting will be October 10th at 6:00 pm. Save the date!

International Coffee Day:

Would you be willing to cover a cup of coffee for our staff? If so, fill out the form and send $6 to school to cover it. Bethel Brew will be here Thursday morning serving coffee for staff. Stop by and grab yourself a cup as well!

STEM Book of the Month for September:

This month we have been reading "If I built a school" in each class to learn about design and engineering processes. Students have interviewed our roof construction workers and gained knowledge on how schools are built and designed with architects and interior designers. These are just a couple of the jobs we will be learning about this year.

Repeat Information:

Staff Appreciation

This has been popular in the past so we are bringing it back. Have you ever wanted to treat teachers but realize there are so many staff members that work with your child? If so, this might be for you. We are trying to provide lunch to staff once a month. Sign up for a month to contribute money. If you'd like to contribute another amount or know of a business that wants to sponsor a full meal, feel free to email Mrs. Bewley. You can pay at the first of your month or go ahead and send it when you sign up. Here is the link!

Lunches

Lunch time is a favorite for lots of families. Just a couple reminders about lunches.

  • Please pack items in your child's lunch they can open. Our younger students have adults that can help them, but we would like to help them work towards being independent with opening food items and containers.
  • Carbonated drinks are not allowed as the lunch boxes get moved around during the day and can explode and make messes.
  • If you are coming to eat with your child, please sign in to the office. You can eat with your child in the Galaxy or at our picnic tables. Friends are not allowed to join other families during lunch because we don't have the supervision or parent permissions to do so.
  • Make sure you apply for free/reduced lunch program or let us know you don't qualify. Paper forms are in the office or the QR code is found below. This program brings in money for our district to help with security, nursing, and many more great services!

Permission Form

New Arkansas Law requires parents to give schools to use a name other than their given name or a derivative of it. For example, if your student's name is William but they go by Will or Liam, this form is not needed. If your child's name is Sarah and she goes by Sissy, permission would be necessary. Please use this form for each child you have that goes by another name: Shaw Given Name Permission Form

Device Protection Plan

Information on our Chromebook Protection Plan is going home this week. We have all brand new devices this year so I strongly encourage you all to buy this to help cover repair costs if needed. Please look for this form in your child's folder. The deadline is October 1st
