Headlines From Hayunga
October 23, 2019
Hey, Hey, Hey STAR Parents!
I hope everyone is doing well! We have wrapped up the 1st nine weeks and are about to wrap up the month of October which is hard to believe. The year is flying by! Please read below for important OSE information:
OSE App
Hopefully everyone has been able to download the new OSE app and are finding it useful. The app developers let us know today that they needed to reset the prompts on the app. I have no idea what this means; however, what I do know is that all users will need to manage their groups again to resubscribe to all groups. This should take care of any bugs that users have been experiencing.
PTA School of Excellence
OSE is again enrolling to be a PTA School of Excellence. A survey will be coming out to parents next week. The 20 question survey comes from the National PTA and are the same questions for all schools administering the survey. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey when you receive it. It will help identify the goals to work on for the School of Excellence application.
Coffee Talk
Mark your calendars for Coffee Talk with the Principal! November 13th at 9:30 will be a time for you to join me and Mrs. Logue for a cup of coffee and an informal chat about the awesome things happening in the district and at OSE. Hope to see you there!
A huge THANK YOU to everyone for your patience and cooperation as we have implemented the new video doorbell at the front entrance. You all have been fabulous as we have worked out any kinks and have been understanding of the need to see everyone's ID each time you visit, even when we know you. Thank you again for being the best and helping us during this transition!
Veteran's Day Program
Our annual Veteran's Day program is coming up on November 11, 2019. We will be having a breakfast for our veterans attending the ceremony in the library beginning at 7:15. The assembly honoring our veterans will begin in the gym at 8:00. If you know a veteran that would like to be recognized, please complete the attached form and return it to Mrs. Sockel. Additionally, if slides were sent home for you to confirm, please email Mrs. Sockel that the information is correct or send her any additional information that needs to be added. Her email is sockelj@lisd.net .
Attendance/Tardies
Just a quick reminder that the first bell rings at 7:40 each morning. The tardy bell rings at 7:45. Any student who is not in class at 7:45 is considered tardy. Additionally, if a student is signed out of school early, this is considered a "reverse tardy" and will be recorded in the same way as a tardy in the morning. Please keep this in mind when viewing your child's absences and tardies in Skyward. If your child is tardy due to a medical appointment, please provide a note from the doctor and the tardy will be marked excused. Your cooperation in getting your child to school before the 7:45 bell is greatly appreciated!
Thank You!
Thank you for your continued support of our students, staff, and school! Have a great afternoon!
