500 BOXES OF CEREAL - LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN!
This month we are concentrating on the theme of gratitude. We have defined it as reflecting on the people, places, and things that we appreciate.
One thing we appreciate is food, but there are those that rely on the food pantry to obtain it each week to feed their families.
Mrs. Schecter challenged staff and students to donate 500 boxes of cereal to the food pantry, but we haven’t met that challenge...yet!
We are currently at 230 boxes. Won’t you help us meet this challenge? Please send in a box or two of cereal (by Wed. 11/27) and we can do it!

Cornell Road Drop-Off and Pick-Up Reminders
Please use following guidelines if using Cornell Road, behind Dunning, for dropping off or picking up your child.
DO NOT park in the center of the cul-de-sac on Cornell Road. Cars that are parked in the middle of the cul-de-sac do not allow residents of Cornell to enter and exit their driveways safely.
You must park on the odd side of the street against the sidewalk curbing at all times. Please adhere to the NO PARKING posted signs on the even numbered side of the street; before, during, and after school hours.
If you are choosing a “live drop-off” for your student in the morning, please do not pull straight in to the cul-de-sac and then back up to exit the area. This is VERY dangerous. Please proceed in a circular motion around the outside of the cul-de-sac to enter and exit.
DO NOT block any driveways when parking on Cornell or make turns in the center of the road to reverse direction. Use the cul-de-sac to turn around.
Do not double-park.
Thank you for your cooperation with above guidelines so that Cornell Road can continue to be used as an access area for drop and pick up.
appropriate clothing
We care about your children and want them to be happy, comfortable, and safe before and after school, and when playing outside at recess. Please make sure your child is coming to school with appropriate jackets, hats, gloves, scarves, etc. for the cold months ahead. Also, please label everything so that when things turn up in our lost and found, we can return them to your children.
Three Great New Books
Brett Berkman, Literacy Coach
Are you looking for something new to read? Here are some titles that are “new” to me. I hope you enjoy them!
Grade K-5: We Don’t Eat Our Classmates by Ryan T. Higgins
Penelope Rex - a dinosaur - is nervous on her first day of school. Unfortunately she has trouble making friends at school because she keeps eating her classmates! After all, they all look delicious.
This is a funny book about empathy, learning, and getting along in school.
Grades 2-3: Make Way for Dyamonde Daniel by Nikki Grimes
Dyamonde Daniel is a new third grader. She missed her old friends and is also puzzled by the new boy, Free, who seems so grouchy. She finally decides to talk to Free and find out why he always acts this way.
This book is about change, friendship, and not judging a book by its cover. It’s also the beginning of a serie so if you like it, you can read more Dyamone Daniel books.
Grade 4-5 The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise by Dan Gemieinhart.
In this book, a young girl who goes by the nickname, Coyote, is traveling around the country on a bus with her father. They are running away from a tragedy that happened at home. Along the way, they meet a lot of interesting and original people who become part of their journey. Ultimately, Coyote realizes she needs to convince her dad to go home even though he really doesn’t want to.
This is a touching book about grief, loss, friendship and perseverance.
If you read one of these books, please let me know what you think! Or, if you have a book recommendation for me, please email me at bbekrman@framngham.k12.ma.us.

Thank you to Beth Last for organizing this year's book fair. Her goal is to have the book fair open as much as possible to accommodate as many families as are interested in buying. The first week will be previews and students can make wish lists. The second week will be all sales. More information will be coming. care and share
The Jane Shapiro Care and Share began in 1995 as a Dunning School community service project. Each month a specific food item is collected at the school to help keep A Place to Turn's shelves stocked. What a great sharing and learning project! Donations are gathered up by the students and then with help from staff, they are delivered to A Place to Turn. Learn more about A Place to Turn here.
Thank you for your contributions to A Place to Turn during the year. Our monthly food collection makes a huge difference in our community, while teaching our students the importance of giving.
