Bear Valley Bugle
February 2023
February is Here!
Happy February!
Thank you for bearing with us as we have our 30 minutes added on to the school day. I know that for some families this meant a change to your schedules. For our students and staff it has been an added time to involve the students in some additional opportunities that we don't often get when the regular school day passes by. Thank you for your flexibility during these changes.
The end of January was Great Kindness Week! We participated by making 16 kindness blankets to donate to Clare House, an emergency shelter here in Anchorage. Thank you PTA for purchasing the blanket kits for this wonderful service project. In February, we are focusing on the social emotional learning skill of empathy. Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feeling of another. We will talk about ways to increase our empathy skills.
During the week of February 6-10, Cook Inlet Tribal Council visited the PE classes to teach students Native Youth Olympics (NYO) Games. On February 13, we kicked off our Iditaread Contest. The PTA purchased a new vending machine for BOOKS! If students meet the Iditaread goal of 998 minutes, they will earn a golden token to use in the book vending machine.
As always, please feel free to reach out as we continue to educate your child this year.
