Elliott Eagles Weekly Newsletter
March 19 2023
Principal Corner
Hello Elliott Family,
Happy Spring! I want to thank Mr. Layne for filling in for me during the two weeks I was out! It was great to be back with my Elliott Family this past week. Lots of great things took place during my absence. Our Someone Special Dance was well attended and a huge success. Our Kindergarten Kickstart was also well attended and we look forward to the new Eagles who will be joining Elliott in the fall! March is Reading Month got off to a strong start. Our theme this year is "We are Super Readers!" John Glenn High School Athletes came and read to our classes and answered questions students had for them. We will continue to have "celebrity readers" visit our classrooms this month and in upcoming months. Please see the "We are Super Readers" calendar for more information regarding this month's activities.
This upcoming week is going to be busy and full of learning fun! This week our College and Career Readiness Department will be celebrating March Madness. This week is meant to ignite the conversation around various career pathways and there will be a theme for each day.
We will have our Elliott Super Family Game Night this Wednesday evening. (See below.) Friday the Story Ladies will be again reading to every classroom!
IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDER: The bus drivers have reported that during arrival and dismissal some students are running through the parking lot, including in the bus loop, to get from their parents to the door or to their parents. This is very, very dangerous and absolutely cannot be allowed. Students may only use sidewalks. If you are dropping your student off or picking them up, you must drop them CURBSIDE in the west parking loop or the back parking loop. The main door entrance/loop is for BUSSES ONLY during arrival and dismissal. You are welcome to park in a designated parking spot in the west lot or back lot and walk your child to their door.
For all of our students' safety, follow all posted parking lot and street signs.
Students who do not take the bus to school are to arrive at school no earlier than 8:25 unless accompanied by a parent who stays with the child until 8:25. We want to ensure that all students are being properly supervised and safe.
If your student arrives after 8:30 an adult will need to sign him or her in at the office. Entrance after 8:30 is via the main door only. You must have a picture ID.
