News and updates for families of Inspire students

December 17, 2020

Dear Inspire Families:

This has certainly been a year to assure us that even the best laid plans are sure to change...frequently. Our Butte County COVID numbers are spiking beyond anything we've seen this year. We have had two Inspire students contract Coronavirus so far, and just this week two staff members tested positive as well. After nine months in a pandemic, we are all beyond weary of being watchful, but this is a tangible reminder to weigh the risks carefully in your holiday planning. Stay home, if possible. Wear a mask; wash your hands frequently; stay six feet apart.

On Monday, our Board reviewed the Inspire Reopening Plan in light of our current COVID numbers. The Board decided to continue distance learning through Periods 5 and 6 (January 4 - March 24), with the exception of some small group in-person learning opportunities. The Board will review the plan again at the February 8, 2021 Board Meeting. We know that you may have questions or concerns about the changes, so keep an eye out for student and parent Zoom meetings in early January, where you will have the opportunity to learn more about these decisions and get answers to your questions. Until then, remember that you can always call or email me with questions, concerns, or good ideas.

This may be the darkest time in a dark year, but there is hope to come. With the advent of viable vaccines, we may be looking at a slow return to normalcy in a few months. For now, I am wishing you and your families the chance to rest, to reflect, to be comforted, and to find joy together. Happy Holidays!

With gratitude and hope,

Becky Brown

COVID-19 in Butte County. Updates and Resources
Butte County numbers have dramatically increased, and we are back to Tier 1 (Purple) alongside a stay at home order, the most restrictive category on California's Blueprint for a Safer Economy. While this does not affect Inspire's current plan for remaining in distance learning--with the exception of a few in-person activities and instruction for small groups--we do want our families to be aware of the COVID-19 situation in our county, and to have the resources necessary to make informed decisions.
