Building Life Skills---Arriving on time
We still have a month of school. Your children have grown tremendously, and we would like to maximize the time we have left.
Arrival time here at school is 7:40AM. We take a formal, legally required and reported attendance at 7:50AM. This is done in homeroom by homeroom teachers.
We are noticing an increasing amount of students getting dropped off at our front door after 7:45AM. If students are not seated in homeroom by 7:50AM, they are marked tardy. Three tardies results in one after school detention. And once in high school, tardies and absences equate to not obtaining credit for classes. This affects a student's graduation.
The majority of our 900 students arrive on time, by 7:40AM. They take a bus or get dropped off between 7:15AM and 7:40AM.
We would ask that you drop your child off on time, by 7:40AM.
Busses release students at 7:40AM. The cafeteria releases all those who have been dropped off at 7:40AM also.
If your child is late, please talk about strategies that can be implemented at home to get up and ready for school on time. Some topics include: 1) Setting an alarm, 2) getting clothing ready the night before, 3) packing a backpack the night before, and 4) getting lunch prepared the night before.
Thank you for your help with this issue. Let's have a strong finish.

FROM THE CLINIC
Message from the FBMS Clinic
We are still in need of 7th Grade Physicals. Please send them in as soon as possible.
Spring is HERE. Which means Allergy Season has started!
If your child suffers seasonal allergies, now is a good time to start daily allergy medicines such as Zyrtec or Claritin. Unfortunately, there is little that the school nurses can do to help other than education and support. We cannot give allergy/cold medication. Motrin or Tylenol are not going to relieve the symptoms of a stuffy nose, itchy eyes, or cough. These symptoms can be difficult to handle in school.. If your child is suffering from these symptoms, please give them something for their symptoms in the morning before they leave for school. While these symptoms are irritating, if they do not have a fever or other significant health concerns, there is no need for them to be home. Allergy season can last a while. Please encourage your students to bring in a water bottle. They can refill them during the day. This is especially important as the weather gets nice and they have more outdoor activities!
