An Update From The Bear Den

It has been a busy few weeks in the Bear Den recently. Throughout the weeks following our Easer Break, we completed the ISASP state assessments in literacy, math, language arts, and writing, as well as science for 5th graders. We are now working through the Spring FAST testing window, as well as our phonemic awareness, phonics, and writing screeners.

In addition, it is officially field trip season! We have already had several trips take place in the first week of May. There are many more to come in these last few weeks of school. In addition, we have some special reward days approaching. Mr. Duncan will once again be hosting the Danville Elementary Track and Field Day on May 13th. The PBIS Committee will also hold our end-of-the-year reward day on Monday, May 23rd. It will be a busy month for sure!

Teacher Appreciation Week

We spent last week honoring our very deserving teaching staff! Teacher Appreciation Week was held at Danville Elementary May 2nd - May 6th. One week certainly does not seem enough to honor these very special people. We are so very lucky to have outstanding, caring, talented teachers here at Danville.

Track & Field Day

Friday, May 13th is Track & Field Day for Danville Elementary. The event will take place on the track behind the school building. Students in grades 3 - 6 will compete in the track and field events in the morning from 9:00 - 11:30. Students in Kindergarten - 2nd grade will compete from 12:30 - 2:30.

Parents are invited to attend! However, we ask that you enter through the baseball/softball field gates. We will have staff members there to hand out visitor passes and sign in any guests. All attendees can park in the baseball/softblal field parking lot.

Please send a water bottle with your child, as well as sunscreen. It looks as thought it has potential to be quite warm and sunny. If there are weather concerns with rain and/or storms, we will look to postpone to another date.

Be On The Lookout!

As the year is winding down, please be on the lookout at home for any library or ARC books that may have accidentally been left at home. The ARC books will have a round sticker on the front cover which is typically located in the bottom right hand corner. Please return any books you find back to school with your child. Thank you for your assitance!
