The Mustang Minute
March 30, 2018 - Issue 28
A Student for a Day
- 50 minutes is a lot longer as a student than a teacher or principal!
- Hands-on projects and movement kept me far more focused and invested in what I was doing!
- Having choice is huge for kids! When they could choose from a selection of activities everyone participated.
- The lunch room is not as noisy from a seat at the table but I definitely could not hear anyone more than two seats away. (I know that sounds contradictory but it's true).
- Our students are thoughtful and far more aware of their world than we give them credit for sometimes. Check out their UN projects for an example.
I highly recommend being a kid for a day to anyone (probably harder for a parent than a principal) it gives you a great perspective on their world. This is definitely something I will continue to do each year to keep informed about how CMS is working for our students.
Please don't forget to take our parent survey. You responses will help form our School Improvement Plan for next year. I noted that the link for after school activities did not seem to be working. They are also listed at the bottom of this newsletter. the survey will only take about 5 minutes.
Congratulations Honor Chorus, Band, and Orchestra!
This past weekend elementary, middle and high school music ensembles participated in the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association (MICCA) Concert & Choral Festival. These ensembles performed for evaluation using a rubric to assess 8 musical standards.
CMS Honor Band, under the direction of Courtney Schick: SILVER
CMS Honor Orchestra, under the direction of Tim MacDonald: BRONZE
CMS Honor Chorus (pictured above), under the direction of Robert McDonough: SILVER
All of the students worked very hard toward this accomplishment and we are all very proud and thrilled by their achievement!
