Roosevelt Weekly Parent Info
Snow already, crazy huh! And crazy that conferences and Thanksgiving are just around the corner. Here are a few reminders for the week:
~ T-Shirt Sales: TODAY is the LAST day to order Roosevelt gear! Roosevelt gear will again be available for online purchasing. Here are the directions for ordering from UTE:
1. Go to our website: www.unitedteamelite.com
2. Click on TEAM STORES at the top menu. This will take you to the team store page login
3. Enter your team password under PERSONALIZED TEAM STORE in all CAPS: ROOSE19
All gear will be delivered to Roosevelt and sent home with students when it arrives, sometime before Thanksgiving. The store is open until November 7 so don't delay!
~ No School on Friday, November 8. This is a day set aside for teachers to prepare for conferences, which are coming up quickly. Conferences will be held on November 14, 19 & 21. Here is the link to sign up for your child's conference if you have not yet done so.
~ High Five Luncheon & Rocky Time: Today we are celebrating six students who had their names drawn from our High Five slips. They got to invite a friend and enjoy a special table in the cafeteria today at lunch. See pictures below. We also had Rocky Time today. We continued learning about Habit #2: Begin With The End In Mind. We thought about how we envision our future jobs. As I'm sure is the case for all of the Rocky Times, my group had awesome hopes and dreams for their future jobs. Some of the future jobs: eye doctor, army soldier, mechanic, teacher, architect, police officer, fire fighter, engineer, Olympic gymnast, paleontologist, and the list goes on!!!
~ Late Start and PTO Meeting: The next late start is Tuesday, November 12. Sign up here for FREE CHILD WATCH. Our monthly PTO meeting is ALSO on this same day at 5:30 in the Roosevelt Media Center. Please, please, please consider coming to the meeting! We are a fun, casual group that works to make great decisions for kiddos and have fun, too, all while working to keep it less than an hour meeting. Child care in the gym is always provided.
~ The Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program is a national program that promotes walking and biking to school. The SRTS focuses on teaching bicycle and pedestrian safety along with the promotion of healthy lifestyles. The initiative encourages children to walk and bike to school and also seeks to improve the air quality around schools, reducing traffic congestion near schools, increase physical activity of children, and increase community involvement.
Mankato Area Public Schools (MAPS) original SRTS plan for Mankato was developed and adopted in 2013 and has served well to improve walking and biking to school. MAPS is currently going through a review of the 2013 SRTS plan to look at how neighborhoods have changed, see what new barriers may keep children from walking or biking to school and to add Prairie Winds Middle School to our plan.
Below is a link to the Parent Survey for your child's school. The interactive survey is available in English or Spanish and takes about 5-10 minutes to complete.
