YEAR 6 SCHOOL CAMP
Tuesday 29 March 2022 to Friday 1 April 2022
Dear Parents
The Year 6 camp will be held at Finlay Park, Cambridge from Tuesday 29 March to Friday 1 April. This is a catered campsite with dormitory blocks, cabins, rec centre, dining room, lounge, gymnasium, spa pool, swimming pool and excellent outdoor facilities.
We have planned an interesting, challenging, fun and safe programme for the students. We are in close contact with Finlay Park and will be complying with all of the current Covid regulations. This camp will be an outstanding experience and wonderful opportunity for your child. All activities will have high levels of supervision and the risk factors involved have been carefully considered.
Students will participate in a number of outdoor activities including kayaking, go karting, bush hiking, raft building, sports, waterslides, problem solving, confidence course and a wonderful indoor climbing course.
The cost per student for the accommodation, subsidy of adults attending, food, catering service, travel and activities is $385.70 If your child has a special diet please add on $30.00.
We encourage all children to earn some of their camp fees themselves to raise their appreciation of this experience. Fees need to be paid before leaving for camp unless other arrangements have been made with Tina Joshua-Bargh.
We will be having a camp parent meeting on Wednesday 16 March at 7:30 pm online to explain the programme, organisation and to coordinate our parent helpers. Please watch your inbox for the invitation. All parents are welcome to attend. Parents attending camp are required to stay after this meeting. If you would like to attend camp as a parent helper please email Tina Joshua-Bargh at t.joshua-bargh@pointview.school.nz to register your interest.
A list of clothing and equipment required for camp is below. Please ensure all items are named. Please complete the permission and health form by Tuesday 1 March.
On Tuesday 29 March children will need to arrive at school by 8:30am, deliver their bags to the school entrance, before assembling in their classroom.
We leave for camp at 9:00am and will return to school on Friday 1 April by 2:45pm.
A major learning experience such as this is not possible without considerable teacher and parent input.
Thank you so much to the teachers for their efforts before and during camp to make this possible as well as to all of the adults who have offered to come along with us.
Regards
Karyn Bower, Chris Coomes, Lisa Firth, Anthony Wright and Tina Joshua-Bargh
