Where the Adventure Begins...
Happy First Friday!
We have just finished the best first week of school EVER! We are in awe of how well every student has done. They have picked up on their new routines and procedures so quickly, and so have all of you!
We know arrival and dismissal can be a little tricky, especially if it is a new procedure for you. Please check below. I've included a copy of our map that shows the ideal traffic flows that help us reduce conflicts and increase our efficiency and safety. We certainly appreciate you following our procedures so that things go as smoothly as possible! One other thing to note for those that come down Red Cedar Drive, just before you turn right into our front carpool loop there is a house with its driveway facing Red Cedar. Please make sure not to block their driveway. Cars waiting need to always leave a space so that the family who lives there can come and go as they need to. Thank you for being mindful of this.
Please take some time to read through our ECS Handbook. The link is just below. This will provide you with important information that will help make this year a smooth, successful one!
Our next big event coming up is Curriculum Night on September 12th! It is probably the most important event of the year! It's an opportunity to come and listen to your child's teacher share all kinds of crucial information about what your child will be learning and how you can support them. It starts promptly at 5:30 and is a night for adults only. We hope that you will all make plans to attend!
Thank you for choosing to allow us to care for your sweet children each and every day. Being a child and parent's first school experience is a huge responsibility and an honor that we do not take lightly. We are here and thrilled to be partnering with you. We are so excited to be a part of the amazing progress your child will make here at ECS. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and we will see you back on Monday!

What Brings Your Family Joy?!
Attendance Reminders
The school bell will ring at 7:40 a.m. for the morning session and 11:40 a.m. for the afternoon session. In order to be on time, students must be inside the security doors of the building by 7:40 a.m. and 11:40 a.m. Please plan on arriving early so students can begin the positive habit of attending school every day on time. Staff members are on duty throughout the building to ensure every child gets to class. The dismissal bell will ring daily at 10:40 a.m. and 2:40 p.m., and students will be escorted to their dismissal locations at this time.
All absences must be reported to the attendance clerk, earlychildhood@friscoisd.org. A few reminders to remember:
§ If your child accrues a combined total of 10 unexcused absence, tardy, or leave early you will be in violation of the State of Texas Truancy Laws (Texas Education Code 25,093).
§ Absences due to extended trips or vacation will always be unexcused. If traveling for more than 5 consecutive days, an extended absence form must be completed.
§ A written note or email from a parent may excuse an absence due to illness for up to 4 days. After the 4th day, the parent shall provide a note from a physician.
§ Calling in to let us know your child will be absent does not excuse the absence.
§ We must receive all excuses within 3 days of the student returning to school.
You Still Have Time!
I Want to Hear From You!!
Hey ECS Parents! I have a forum called The ECS Parent Place! As your child's principal, I want to make sure I keep open lines of communication with all of you! I'm hoping this will turn into a great place where you can post questions, feedback, and praise so that I can stay better connected with you and your perspectives. I look forward to hearing from you! Just click this link and then look for the hot pink circle with the plus sign. Click on that and you're on your way! I'll keep an eye out so I can respond to your posts.

Hi ECS families,
My name is Orli Mascorro, and I am very proud to be the counselor at the ECS. At ECS I help create a supportive environment for our students to help them succeed inside and outside of the classroom. I teach guidance lessons, provide teachers and staff with strategies for emotional and social needs, and plan parent education events. Each week I will provide you with updates on guidance lessons, parenting tips, and more to help your child achieve positive progress.
During your child’s time at ECS, most of the guidance lessons I will present will focus on expanding your child’s emotional vocabulary. The goal is to help students build a rich vocabulary of feelings. This will help them to label feelings and better communicate their needs and wants, and to learn empathy. As a result, your child will develop a meaningful lexicon of feeling words so they can communicate effectively and feel understood. This is also the first step for him or her to learn to regulate emotions.
At ECS we align our expectations with the district’s goal to promote social and emotional learning. Research shows that teachers can effectively engage students in all academic areas by providing a positive student-teacher relationship, teaching skills to cope with feelings, and better achieve behavior expectations. All of this will build an essential foundation to support our students’ learning.
With your help, we can collectively enhance your child’s feelings vocabulary and enhance your child’s emotional development for a great start to success.
