SCHOOL COUNSELING WEEK!
The week of February 3 is National School Counseling Week! It is an honor to work with our students, families, and colleagues here at Bowie High School! We are so fortunate to work at a supportive, thriving, school of excellence. Proud to be Bulldogs!
COURSE SCHEDULING!
If you missed our Academic Planning Night, you may view the recorded presentations online.
We visited 9th-11th grade classrooms in January. All students have received their choice sheets for next school year. Students will need to bring their completed choice sheets to school on February 20th so that they can enter their courses into TEAMS self-serve during FIT.
There is a plethora of information at the website. Please visit here!
INCOMING BULLDOGS - CLASS OF 2024
In preparation for our Incoming 9th Grade Showcase Night and middle school visits, the Bowie counselors have created a virtual presentation, “Bowie Class of 2024 Roadmap”, covering graduation requirements, course registration, freshman support programs, and advanced academics. We encourage all incoming 9th grade families to watch this video prior to our upcoming events.
Please check out our upcoming events for middle school to high school transition planning.
SENIORS
Attention Seniors! We sent out a senior update a couple of weeks ago. Please review this important senior update. NOTE: The senior breakfast has been changed from May 18th to May 19th.
IMPORTANT GRADUATION NOTICE: Some students prefer to go by a name that is different from their first name. If you would like a different name printed in the graduation program and called during the ceremony, you need to get a form from your counselor. These forms must be returned to the registrar, Genette Sageser, by March 25th.
COURSE SELECTION : COUNSELOR ONE-ON-ONE MEETINGS
Bowie Counselors are excited to announce the beginning of 10 minute meetings, one of many ways we help students navigate the course selection process. Every student will be scheduled to meet with their counselor for 10 minutes between the dates of February 24th and March 13th. Students will receive their appointment date and time in their student e-mail. It is important that they monitor their e-mail and create some kind of reminder in their phone or calendar. We will not call each student individually, they will be responsible for telling their teacher they need to leave class to go meet with their counselor. They should show their teacher their e-mail with their scheduled appointment as their pass to leave class.
Important things to keep in mind:
Parents are welcome to attend meetings. Please arrive 30 minutes early for parking and check-in.
The meetings will only last 10 minutes. It is important for parents and students to come prepared with questions. You can go over course scheduling resources here. Bowie is a big school, with a lot to offer. The resources on this page are extensive, so please set aside a good chunk of time to go over everything.
If you feel like you require more than 10 minutes, you can schedule a time to talk to your counselor after Spring Break. Students have until May 28th to make decisions about courses.
