Mustangs in the Middle : Week of December 14, 2020
From the desk of Mrs. Boytim, Principal of SMS
I know I speak on behalf of all of our staff at SMS that we miss our students very much. Not having them fill out seats and hallways has been difficult, but seeing their faces and interacting each day has been a perk. Students and staff have been doing a great job attempting to meet the expectations of this learning framework and we are proud and grateful. We hope to see you all soon and appreciate everyone's effort.
Please see music performances below, Shoutouts and a few pictures of students on our spirit days! We encourage students to take part in the holiday spirit days at home this week.
Students and parents: please be sure to encourage engagement, interaction, attendance and work completion next week as we finish the quarter. This also includes students attending individual Google Meets and checking their email as well. It is important that students continue to log in and complete work until Thursday so that they can end the semester positively.
As always, please reach out to us if you need anything. Have a great week!

Sixth Grade Virtual Band Concert
We are so happy to share with you this virtual concert put together by the Sixth Grade Band! The students have worked so hard and learned the full ensemble piece in just two weeks during hybrid learning! Many students also learned solos this past week to include in this concert. We are so proud of all the students and are excited to have the opportunity to share our music with our families! Happy Holidays from the Sixth Grade Band classes!

Announcements & Reminders
TEAM WEEKLY PREVIEWS
Teams complete this every week to help parents and students receive a forecast of assignments to help organize their week. GOOGLE CLASSROOM is still the MAIN location for all resources. This is a great tool to help check in with students
WEEKLY ANNOUCEMENTS
These are also linked to our Team Preview templates and located on our school website.
Avoid Chromebook Issues
All students should shut their chromebooks down with the 3-Point Shutdown at least once a day to avoid chromebook problems.
If students are having problems with their chromebook, the 3-Point Shutdown is the first thing they should do.
3-Point Shutdown
1. Click on the 'x' in the top right corner of the screen.
2. Click in the oval in the lower right corner of the screen (which usually says US, has a wifi icon, battery icon, time, etc.), then click on 'Sign Out'.
The screen will go black for about 10 seconds.
3. When the screen comes back on (to the initial login screen),click on 'Shut Down' in the lower left corner of the screen.
The 3-Point Shutdown is different than just closing and opening the lid, pressing the power button, etc.
This 3-Point Shutdown should be done at least once a day, and whenever the chromebook doesn't seem 'right'.
