SHS Virtual Day Information

Scottsburg High School will be virtual/online for the following Wednesdays: September 23rd, September 30th, October 7th, October 21st, and October 28th. No decision has been made for changes to the school calendar beyond October 28th.

Our mission at Scottsburg High School is to put our students onto one of four paths: Path to Business Ownership, Path to College, Path to Military, or Path to Workforce. We believe one of these paths will lead to a brighter future. Our teachers and students are struggling to fulfill our mission based on current circumstances. By creating a virtual day on Wednesday for all students, our teachers will have more time to create more meaningful and rich content for their classes and provide more support for our 180 students who are full-time virtual students. We will be collecting data as school administrators in collaboration with our classroom teachers to work on lowering our failure rate (one of our goals for the year) for both in-person and virtual students.

For students who need to come to SHS on Wednesday, the campus will be open and we will follow the same arrival and dismissal times. School starts at 8:04 am and dismisses at 2:56 pm. Our buses will run at normal pickup and drop-off times. Students who come to school on Wednesdays will report to McClain Hall where they will be in a supervised study hall for the day. They will have the opportunity to eat breakfast and lunch.

All students will do their engagement check on Wednesdays for attendance purposes. Students will do this on the SHS Student Canvas Page. Your student will know how to do this.

Students who have advanced internships with employers will continue to go to their jobs on Wednesdays.

Thank you for showing grace during these challenging times for our students and teachers.
