Welcome to Week 5!

Greetings Clinton Valley Families!

It is officially October, one of my favorite months of the year! I love fall and Halloween, and everything about the weather we just had this weekend...humidity FREE!

It has been a whirlwind of a month for me, and I am just beginning to breathe again. I am not sure if you know this or not, but I was hired only a few short days before school started, and it has been a crazy, yet AMAZING first month. Your children are wonderful and the staff is extremely talented.

My goal this year is to partner with you at home to ensure that you feel welcome and informed. My main method of communicating important information will be through this Smore newsletter. I finally received my own account, so the messaging will hopefully be clearer, going forward.

There is so much going on this next month and many fun events to look forward to, including Cardinal Crawl, Boo Bash, Count Day and Parent-Teacher Conferences. I look forward to getting to know you at these events!

Have a wonderful week!

Lunch Procedures

This year, we are able to lift any Covid restrictions in the lunch room. Therefore, your child does not have an assigned seat. Their classes have assigned tables. We believe that it is important that your child is able to choose who to sit by and socialize with their friends.

We do have specific procedures that we are still working on implementing. Students must stay in their seats at all times and be at a voice level 2 or lower. This means that any form of yelling or screaming is not permitted. It can get very loud in the cafeteria, so we will continue to remind them to keep the noise levels down. There have been instances where we had to implement a level 0 (no talking) and a level 1(whispering) so that they understand the difference.

Additionally, we are working on making sure that those who go through the lunch line, get everything that they need in order to avoid going back. For safety purposes, we do not want them traveling back and forth from their seats. Therefore, soon, we will not permit it. Instead, we will have a traveling basket for those who need additional items. We have been working on this for an entire month. We also understand that the littler ones may need more practice with this, but ultimately, we would like everyone to stay seated for the entire 30 minutes.

Count Day

Count day is Wednesday, October 5th. It is vital that your child is present and on time so that we can account for them and ensure that our school is funded accurately. If your child is well, please make sure they are at school! Thank you so much for your support in this!

Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences

Conferences are coming up in a few weeks! This time is valuable. During conferences, you will gain deeper insight into your child's academic progress so far this year. Our goal is to reach 100% participation. Please use the link below to sign up for a conference during the window. If you need assistance, please call the office.

Cardinal Crawl

So far we have raised almost $5,000! As of Friday, Mrs. Roddy's class is in the lead with over $800! Mrs. Anderson is in second and Mrs. Susalla is in third, both raising over $600! Thank you all for your efforts. The goal is to have everyone join in on the fun on October12th!

I will send out a schedule for the Crawl so that you know when each grade level will be out on the track! This will come to you this week. We hope you will join us on the day of the event. Remember, to participate, your child only needs to raise $10.

Positivity Project

Over the past month our students have been learning about adopting an "other people matter mindset" and focused on being curious and working as a team. We will celebrate these topics at our assembly on Friday. Second grade will be presenting what they have learned and what they loved about these topics. Next month, we will learn about having an open mind, being present, having integrity, and being creative. This project is extremely important and I love watching the children grow socially and emotionally from it. We will continue to hold celebration ceremonies as a school to share what we have learned.
