Weekly Wrap
January 9 - 15, 2022
BHS Updates
As we move toward the end of our first semester of the 2021-22 school year on January 28th, please remain focused on academic success and please let us know if any members of our staff can support you in any way.
Over the course of the week, teachers will be reviewing with each of their classes how students would continue to participate in the unlikely event of the need for short-term virtual learning. As Mr. Bruno communicated, "we must be prepared for the possibility no matter how unlikely." If we are required to move to remote learning, students would be expected to attend each class every day following their school schedules. Each class will begin with a live check-in and instruction from the teacher and will be as closely aligned to in-person instruction as possible.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in the education of our students and please contact us at any time if you have questions or for support.

FROM THE DESK OF THEPREVENTION COUNSELOR - Nicca Lattuca, LMHC
Children and adolescents who are taught the dangers of substance use are less likely to develop an addiction later on in life.
Being aware of the latest trends, language, social media and more can help keep your children safe from the dangers of alcohol and drugs. Knowing what young people want and need can open doors to a productive conversation.
In December, the US Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration published an “emoji drug code” guide that DEA “decodes” various emojis and small digital icons frequently used in online and phone messaging.” We are sharing this with you to support you and your family. Within this newsletter you will find resources, common emoji codes used for drugs and other substance related information and ways to start a healthy and productive conversation with your child about drug and alcohol use.
To support you and your student, we have created the flyer linked here, which includes resources for parents and students.
If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to BHS Principal, Mike Pincelli or BHS Prevention Counselor, Nicca Lattuca.

Paper
Dear BHS Parents/Guardians,
I am excited to tell you about our new tutoring services, provided by Paper.
Paper is a secure, online tutoring service that provides students with unlimited, 24/7 academic support. Whether they are stuck on homework, studying for a test, or need someone to read and make suggestions to their essays, there will always be experts available online to assist students in over 200 subjects and more than four languages.
Paper tutors have been specially trained to conduct expert, academic support in a secure, chat-based platform. With a commitment to helping students learn, they will never give students answers, but rather interact with them in an encouraging tone to lead them forward.
This is a free service that we are providing, so students are encouraged to use it as much as they need, whenever they need.
If you would like to learn more about Paper you can sign up for a Paper hosted Parent Info Session, available in both English and Spanish. Or if you would like to speak to a member of the Paper team directly, you can reach them at parents@paper.co.
To see Paper and the help it offers firsthand, we encourage you to login with your students. To get started, simply have your child log into their ClassLink account and click on the Paper icon.
We are thrilled to offer our students the unlimited, 24/7 support that Paper provides, and we cannot wait to see what we are able to accomplish together.
