OPEN HOUSE
Computers will be available in the library to sign up for bussing and lunch accounts.
By now your child should have received a postcard letting them know their teacher for the coming year. If not we will have class lists posted around the school to help you out.
First Day of School August 30th 1st-5th grade
On the first day, you may walk your child onto our playground, we ask that you say 'Have a great day' at the outside doors. Students may also have breakfast starting at 8:00 am and when they are finished head outside to the playground. The bell will ring at 8:28 for students to line up and 8:30 doors open for students to come into the building. We will have signs so students will know where to line up as a grade level. Please give your hug and kiss for the day outside and we will have the students come in the building without parents. If you need to drop supplies or snacks off that may have been forgotten, please do so at the front office.
If your family would rather practice the regular drop to the playground routine, that is great too! Playground supervision will begin at 8:00.
First Day of School September 5th Kindergarten
Drop Off and Pick Up
If students are walking they should use the crosswalk on 5th avenue.
When dropping off students make every attempt to park your vehicle and walk to the playground. If you are unable to park and walk to the playground you may drop off in the back by the playground or the glass double doors if your child is eating breakfast. Playground opens at 8:00 with adult supervision, do not drop your child off before that time unsupervised.
When picking up students at the end of the day make every attempt to park your vehicle and walk to the playground. If you are unable to park and walk to the playground DO NOT sit with your vehicle in line before the dismissal bell rings (2:30 Monday and 3:15 Tuesday-Friday). When adults come early and start the line it becomes backed up quickly and California is an emergency road for the hospital. Please be respectful of our community.

By applying for Free & Reduced Lunch, you help not only your family, but your entire school. This is because much of our district’s federal funding is based on how many student households qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch. Approved applications help generate additional funding for important student services such as staffing to provide extra academic support for all students, math and literacy curriculum, classroom and academic supplies, and assistance with covering extra-curricular activity costs for students in need.
To qualify for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program for the 2023-24 school year, families must fill out the information every year. You do not need to apply if you meet one of the following criteria:
- Certified to participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps.
- Certified to participate in the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program (TANF).
- Certified to participate in Medicaid.
- Foster child/family.
Your application is confidential and will not be seen by your school principal or other school staff. Families across a wide range of income levels may qualify based on a variety of factors, including the number of people in your household. If you believe your family may qualify, please apply now, even if you don’t plan to take advantage of this benefit.
You may qualify for help and support under other federal funding. To find out how to apply for SNAP or other assistance benefits, please call the Montana Public Assistance Helpline at 1-888-706-1535, apply online at www.apply.mt.gov, or contact a local assistance office.
If you previously qualified for Free & Reduced lunch, you must reapply for the 23-24 school year!
