Tisch's Tidbits
We did it!
I am beyond proud of every single child in my class. We set a goal to have our multiplication facts memorized by Winter Break and this week, they accomplished this goal!!! It was really an exciting and emotional moment when the news came. We decided on the reward right away which is a mix of a pajama/movie party. So, on Tuesday, the entire class is invited to wear jammies and bring a stuffed animal/pillow while we snuggle in to push the desks to the side and watch a movie. This is beyond well deserved. I plan to bring in Smart Pop as a snack.
This Week
Just a reminder that we will not have school on Friday. Thursday will be our Winter Party and book exchange. The kids are really excited! Thanks for sending in the books this week. If you haven't done so already, please send it in on Monday. I'm hoping to take the unit 4 math test on Thursday. If this changes, I'll be sure to let you know!
New Student
We have a new addition to our Superhero clan when we return from break! Her name is Rebecca, and we are excited to meet her!
5th grade-Here we come!
On Wednesday, February 8, 2017, the 4th grade students will visit Zionsville Middle School from 9:30 to 11:00. During their visit they will go on a tour of the building and hear a program presented by our music departments. ZMS will host a 4th grade meeting for parents at 6:30 PM in Eagle Hall the same day, February 8, to discuss the transition from 4th to 5th grade. The meeting will last approximately one hour. An overview of the school, 5th grade classes including a choice of a Fine Art will be discussed. Some of the guidance staff will be available to answer any questions you may have about the transition to middle school.
Book Talks
Just a reminder that your child is reading a book in which they will present to the class. It should last between three-five minutes. We have gone over the rubric and watched an example. Your child should also have a sheet of paper that has an outline with lines for your child to take notes of what they would like to say. Think of this as a movie trailer in hopes of encouraging others to read the book. There is a calendar sign up in our classroom so when your child is ready, they can write their name on the date when they would like to present. All Book Talks should be done by Wednesday, December 21.
Remind 101
Something funny has happened to my app, so I may need to create a new class and you may need to join again. This is why you haven't received updates lately. I'll send out the new code if I can't make it work.
NWEA
We will be taking mid-year NWEA the week we return from Winter Break.
