A Message from Mrs. Haymark

Dear Vogel Texans Families,

We have wrapped up the first nine weeks of school! Its so hard to believe we have completed a fourth of the school year. Our students are getting into the swing of things and working extremely hard everyday.

We are moving right along in this second nine weeks and it's incredible to continue to see the growth of our kiddos daily. Our teachers are working diligently to support them and seeing them evolve is such a joy!

We are also extremely excited to welcome you back to campus! It has been amazing seeing parents eating lunch with students and helping out in the front office. We certainly appreciate your continued support. If you ever have questions or concerns, please contact us here are the school!

Christa Haymark, Principal

T-Shirts and Yearbooks

We deeply apologize for the confusion and inconvenience caused concerning the yearbooks ordered for the 2020-2021 school year as well as t-shirts ordered for this school year. If you ordered a yearbook online through Balfour, refunds have already been processed and sent. If you ordered directly from the school, your refund has been issued via check and sent in the mail to the address we have on file. Currently, the blue 'Simply Texans' and 'Texans Jersey' t-shirts are here. If you have ordered either or both of those for your child they will be delivered directly to them in the coming days. We have verified the other t-shirt designs will be delivered the first week of November. Once we get those sorted by students who have purchased, they will be handed out to your child as well. Again, please accept our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience this has caused you.

Quarantine and Self-Reporting

One of the updates provided by Dr. Null in the September 2nd YouTube video related to student quarantine. The update is as follows: If there is a positive individual in the same household, a 10-day quarantine is required unless the student is fully vaccinated for COVID-19 & shows no symptoms or have a documented COVID-19 positive result within the previous 6 months, has fully recovered, and remains without COVID-19 symptoms such as cough and shortness of breath.

To self-report a positive Covid-19 test for a student, please visit www.conroeisd.net click "SSO" and enter the student's log in credentials. See the visual below for more information.

Updated COVID Protocols

The biggest mitigation strategy we can put into place this school year is to encourage students, parents, and staff to stay home when they are sick. It's going to take all of us to ensure our kiddos are safe while inside our building. Please do not send your child to school if they are feeling under the weather. Reach out to your child's teacher, our nurse, or our counselor with questions or specific needs. Beginning this week, we will be implementing additional protocols to those already in place to continue to keep students and staff safe. Please see below for the updates.

Masks: While masks are not required, we do encourage students and staff to wear them during this time of increasing Covid-19 spread in our community. We will have masks in the front office for students and staff who wish to wear one, but forgot them at home. If you have specific questions about masks, please let your child's teachers know. They are happy to help!

Classrooms: Students will continue to practice good hand hygiene with teachers sanitizing each student’s hands before and after class change. Teachers will also sanitize desks and student’s workstations before and after class change. All classrooms and common areas will be e-misted on a nightly basis after each student has left for the day.

Cafeteria: We have five lunches to limit the number of students in our cafeteria at one time. Your child's lunch time may be early or late depending. All students are allowed to bring a snack with them to eat during the day. Students will be spread out as much as possible during all lunches. They will be provided an ID badge with a bar code used to purchase lunches to avoid using a keypad. Hand sanitizer will be provided in cafeteria and student will wash/sanitize before and after lunch.

Transitions: Students will maintain a safe distance when transitioning between classes, specials, and lunch.

Water Bottles: Vogel has three no-touch water bottle refilling stations in all schools. We are asking for all students to bring a refillable water bottle to school with them. Please clearly write your child's first and last name on their water bottle with permanent marker. Students will be allowed to bring their water bottles to all their classes, fine arts, PE, and lunch.

COVID Notices and Contact Tracing: If a student in our building reports a positive test result, classroom and general notifications will continue to be sent out. Specific contact tracing and mandatory quarantines will not take place this school year. If you have specific questions about your child's risks, please contact our school nurse, Susan Coyne @ scoyne@conroeisd.net or 832-663-4309.

School Leveling System: The district is working on a leveling system based on positive cases. This will help guide administration on implementing additional protocols to help ensure all of our students are safe while they are in our building.

Parent Access

The most frequently asked question we get at the beginning of the year is how can I help my child be successful in intermediate school. The transition to intermediate can be challenging for some kiddos. The best thing a parent can do to support their child is to help them build organizational systems. Some students have trouble juggling the increased number of teachers and assignments. Help your child get into the routine of checking for work inside their flexi-folder every night. Look at graded assignments that are sent home to see if there are concepts your child is struggling to master. And sign up for a Parent Access account to monitor your child's grades. If you see zeros or "Z"s in the gradebook, it means that your child has not turned in their assignment. Encourage them to complete the work and turn it in. It's never too late to turn work in or too early to start building good study habits. If you don't have a Parent Access account CLICK HERE to register. Your involvement in their education is important. If you have questions on how else you can support your child, please reach out to your child's teacher or one of our school counselors.
