Lt. Josh Wehinger, Lt. Ret Tompkins, and Fireman Andrew Picklo of CCFD came and visited the Team A students to wrap up first responders week. They talked about their jobs and how a typical day in the life of a fireman looks. The students were given a tour of the truck and were able to ask questions about the job.
Laura Folsom, Nan Brannaka, and Laurie Lane's students recently completed a Biography Bottle Project with their 6th grade science classes. Each student had the opportunity to choose a famous scientist of their choice. Using a 2 Liter bottle the students had to create their scientist using various materials they felt were appropriate in making their people look as much like the real scientist as possible. This project exposed their classes to a wide variety of careers in science. The information they gathered while researching was embedded into a Biography Poster which provided factual information to show their understanding of the scientist's life, accomplishments, and contributions to society.
