Welcome Back to School!

We look forward to seeing our students on our first day of school together, Tuesday, September 6!
School Supplies

This week, classrooms will be labeling and organizing their school supplies.

Kind, Responsible, and Safe Expectations

At IMES, we practice being kind, responsible, and safe. Our IMES expectations help us develop and demonstrate kind, responsible, and safe words and actions. Conversations about these expectations will take place in classrooms and throughout the year. Please take time in the beginning of the year to talk to your child about these expectations. These expectations help make our school a welcoming and inclusive community where we can learn and grow together academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.

Book of the Month

In September, our K-5 classrooms will enjoy reading the book, What I Am by Divya Srinivasan. This book will help facilitate conversations about identity as we build relationships and community in our school.

Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures

School Hours are from 9:15 am - 3:40 pm.

Drop Off: Drop off begins at 9:10 am in the circle by the gym. To be safe, please have your child exit the car on the curbside.

Pick-Up: We will follow the Pick Up Plan that you submitted last week. Please park in visitor parking by the gym or in the visitor parking spots on the side of the hill. Please bring your ID to check in with our greeter. Gym doors will open at 3:35 pm.

We anticipate some traffic so please be kind and safe as we begin implementing our procedures.

Health and Safety Drills

We will be practicing evacuation and lockdown drills at the beginning of the school year. Teachers will prepare their class in advance for the drills. We will notify families each time we conduct a drill.

Dignity for All Students Act (DASA)

KLSD seeks to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all students, free of discrimination, intimidation, harassment, taunting and bullying. If you are aware of an incident or have a concern, please contact one of us listed below. Information about our District’s DASA and other related policies can be found on our website at https://www.klschools.org/dasa_bullying.

Attendance

As a reminder, please call the school in the morning if your child is absent. The school attendance line is 763-7150.
