CHISD Calls for November Election
VATRE and Bond Propositions will be on the November Ballot
Cedar Hill ISD HAS 4 Propositions on the November Ballot
Early voting in Texas for the Nov. 8 election runs from Monday, Oct. 24, through Friday, Nov. 4.
CHISD has 4 propositions on the November ballot.
Early voting will be held at the Alan Sims Recreation Center (310 E. Parkerville Road)
Proposition A will increase Teacher Salaries
Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE)
Through a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE), Cedar Hill ISD would generate an additional $6 million annually, which would be used for teacher and staff salaries, pay raises, classroom materials and academic programs.
CHISD currently has the lowest revenue-per-student in the area. Among Dallas County school districts, CHISD ranks 15 out of 15 and is not able to allocate as much money to teaching and learning as other districts.
Bond Proposition B will Uphold Safety & Security Standards
If approved, Proposition B is expected to fund safety and security improvements at every campus. These proposed projects include:
- expanding and upgrading video surveillance systems
- adding bullet resistant glass, frames and film
- improvements to burglar alarm systems.
Through a voter-approved Bond Election, Cedar Hill ISD will also generate additional funding to renovate and update schools. This would include creating additional Career & Technical Education (CTE) spaces, adding science labs, constructing new accessible playgrounds, and even building a new fine arts academy for elementary scholars.
Bond Proposition C will Address Instructional Technology Needs
The bond proposition will allow CHISD to continue offering instructional technology to scholars, would allow for lifecycle replacement of devices, and add technology to every campus.
Specifically, it would fund:
- Desktops
- 1:1 Devices
- Battery Backups & Phones
Bond Proposition D will Fund Repairs at Longhorn Stadium
The bond would allow CHISD to replace the turf and track at Longhorn Stadium when it reaches the end of its useful life and is no longer in a condition for use.
