GRE Staff Newsletter
For the week of November 3, 2019
Dear Team,
I did a little bit of Facebook Stalking to share with you some great photos of our GRE family outside of school. It's important that we take the opportunity to celebrate with each other things that aren't tied to the four walls of our classrooms. That's right team, I'm talking about real life. This past week we had one of the coldest, most miserable Trick or Treat nights in a while-but check out these photos, can you tell? Me either:) Life is all about making memories, I hope you had the chance to make some awesome memories this past week.
Turning to this week, we will have our first ever combined Art Day and Veteran's Day Assembly. A huge thank you to Christine Doran, DeAnne Wood and all those involved in helping to make these days special. Please make sure you read through any and all communication provided by Christine and DeAnne to make sure you are clear on what is happening, where it's happening, and when:) Since there is much to read through and prepare for, I'll keep this week's message short.
Thanks for all you do!
Kate

1. All staff need to complete their Professional Growth Plan in etpes by November 15th. This should be easy to do because we've already met about your goals and hopfeully you are well versed in our building goals. The first goal should be academic and the second can be a personal growth goal. To help you out, here are our goals for this school year straight from our CIP:
1. By the end of the 2019-2020 school year, as a building we will increase the number of students who are successful with only Tier I instruction to 70%.
2. By the end of the 2019-2020 school year, as a building we will increase our use of pre-assessments and use of exit tickets to gauge student understanding as measured by the 2020 Reflection Tool Survey.
2. Our staff meeting for November will be this Tuesday morning. As a reminder, if you are a teacher who has students in Taylor Rosa's SLC, you will be meeting in Trisha Hilton's room. Please come to the STEM Hub first and we will dismiss from there. Your focus will be to learn from Bryant Tela strategies that will help you support keeping our SLC students in your rooms, learning! I'm excited to have him back here to work with our gen ed teachers.
All other teachers, Justin Plummer will be scheduling time with your PLC's to help problem solve behavior in the future. We will all get a chance to increase our behavioral toolbox so just be patient and reach out if help is needed! Here is the agenda for November if you need to job your brain.
3. Great job Chapter 2 Power of Our Words book study group! Please head to our book study Schoology Group. If you have not joined this book study group yet, the access code is:

You will find notes to read through under resources to be prepared to have a discussion about envisioning language! This will kick off our Tuesday staff meeting. You will have time at the meeting to read through their notes or you can come prepared to respond to the following question:
Using envisioning language, teachers can lift students out of their current reality to imagine themselves achieving in bigger, grander ways. How can you incorporate envisioning language in your classroom?
4. Here is the sign up information for Eagle Ed. The first one will be Tuesday, November 26. If you have any questions, please let Angie Keller know. The schedule for Eagle Ed has been added to the Building Schedule on its own Eagle Ed. tab.
5. Click here to read through the Art Day schedule. As a reminder, here are the notes Christine sent about this day:
-It will be a no specials letter day (E day will be the following Monday)
-Intervention will be covering planning times that day (THANK YOU intervention team!), but not at your normal time
-I am sharing the master schedule with you now, but will put easy to read ones in your mailbox next week!
-If you have a session scheduled during your recess, thank you for being flexible on your recess time for that day...getting everyone squeezed in is tricky : )
6. November kicks off our annual food drive for GRE! This year we’re partnering up with all the other elementary buildings to “STUFF THE BUS”. There should be a box put outside your classroom door for students to put their canned goods in. This is being run by PTO-if you have any questions or concerns, please see Casandra or I.
7. December Data teams will be here before you know it. This will be a full day-please secure your sub now.
8. You may have noticed that we moved Taylor Rosa's SLC to where the conference room used to be. The conference room will now be Taylor Rosa's former SLC. Stop by and check them out. Giving Taylor a little more space will allow her and her team to better meet the needs of students.
9. And now let's talk about the really important stuff...our GRE Holiday Party! This year we will be hosting a team Golf Challenge at Top Golf! You will not want to miss it. Back by popular demand, there will be a draft for team assignments, trophies, and loads of prizes. Click here to RSVP and learn more details!
