Learning Quarter Two: November 1, 2022
Dr. Reach's Principal Connections
November Greetings, Woodland Families!
Can you believe that NOV has officially arrived...?! :)
Wow/our school year is moving so very quickly.
Please know how very much we appreciate you, our school families, and ALL that you are doing at home to ensure your student's or students' success. And through our ongoing partnerships, we will continue to encourage and support each of our individual learners. Most importantly, please know your students are truly precious to our hearts.
Further, please remember that parent/guardian connections are one of the greatest contributors for our students' academic, emotional, and social success. We all know this: It truly takes a village. As always, please reach out to your student's teacher or teachers as needed through email, BLOOMZ, and parent/guardian conferences. Staying connected is very important to all of us at Woodland.
Together = WE will continue to soar/Thank you, Woodland Families!
With my very best,

School Breakfast and Lunch Charges
As you may already know after reading our Woodland student/family handbook, breakfast and lunch are no longer provided free of charge for our students.***This is a change from our previous two school years.
Please ensure that your student has money in his/her lunch account each school week. If you should need financial assistance with this important process, please complete our confidential free/and reduced breakfast and lunch application. We forwarded those applications in our first day "back to school packets." If you need another copy, please let your teacher know this week. Please know these important applications will be processed with great confidentiality.
As always, you may reach out to Mrs. Amanda Gallam, our Woodland Cafeteria Manager, anytime as needed. WE appreciate you, Miss Amanda!
Important Morning Details
Our Morning Car Line
Please note that our morning car line concludes at 8:14 AM. If you are arriving on campus after that point in time, please re-enter our school campus by circling back to our main, front entrance. Students who enter the building after 8:15 AM, must obtain a tardy slip per district policy.
At each elementary school across the district, students are expected to be in their respective classrooms at 8:15 AM. Our teachers begin important classroom routines and attendance checks at that time each and every school day. To ensure that your student is not tardy, please arrive to our car line no later than 8 AM each school day.
The following link may be helpful as we review the importance of excellent student attendance which includes arriving to school on time:

Let's Read/Let's Soar!
Today's Readers = Tomorrow's Leaders!
We all know the importance of reading and its connection to everything we do: math problem-solving, science and social studies content reading, map/chart/graph reading, etc. So --- please be sure to ask your student about his/her selected reading selections & homework assignments each school day.
When connecting to your student's reading selections, you might say: "Tell me about the book you are reading. Who is the main character/or characters? Are you enjoying the story? What do you think will happen next?, etc." Those daily conversations are so powerful as our students continue to grow their reading comprehension and fluency. Our students should be reading at home for 20 minutes each school day.
Please reach out to your student's teacher if you are uncertain about which books your student should be reading at home.
Thank you for helping your student/or students to grow as an excellent readers = an important life skill for all of us! Gotta say it: Let's Read/Let's Soar!
Our Woodland Leadership Links
WE are so very proud of our students as together we are learning and growing through these important habits = our Woodland Leadership Links. Be proactive and put first things first by asking your student/or students about all that they are learning in regard to our Leadership Links and how these linkages are important at school - and at home.
