Oklahoma Vortex
ISOK & OVCA High Schools eSports Team ~ SY2021-2022
MISSION
The Oklahoma Vortex Esports Program exists to provide a safe, supportive environment for students to have fun and potentially represent their school in competition. The mission of the program is to not only provide this exciting opportunity, but to use this platform as a tool to teach sportsmanship, responsibility, and teamwork, while simultaneously building pride among the student body in their school.
CODE OF CONDUCT
Sportsmanship, honesty, and respect are the main tenets of the esports program’s code of conduct. Every member of the program is expected to adhere to these standards in order to have the privilege of competing.
ROLES
A coach is expected to be a positive role model for student athletes and will conduct themselves in a professional manner. The coach is expected to hold high personal and ethical standards, and to promote sportsmanship.
Student athletes represent the Oklahoma Vortex team during team participation and during daily academic classes. Student athletes are expected to represent themselves well in class, in competitions, and in practice.
Parents and legal guardians play an important role in the student’s participation in a team sport. We hope that parents will model positive sportsmanship, attitudes, and behavior for all students.
Team Opportunities
FALL
Rocket League 2v2 (Stride League)
SPRING
Rocket League 3v3 (Stride League)
Students must be passing all classes.
Students are expected to have respectful conduct in all classes.
Players considered to play on a professional level are not eligible to play in any High School Esports League competition.
Team members are required to attend all practices, games and competitions in which they are involved. Practice, game, and competition times will be communicated to the team. If a student will not be attending a practice, the coach must be notified at least 1 day in advanced to the session being missed. Any student athlete who has more than 3 absences may result in limited playing time or removal from the team.
We realize students may have work, religious, or family obligations. Student athletes should discuss these commitments with the coach prior to the season so that the coach is aware of obligations. Students must determine the level of commitment to these obligations. Missing playing time due to these reasons is subject to the same standards of attendance.
There may be games or competitions scheduled on non-religious holidays (for example, Fall, Winter, or Spring Break, Summer Break, Labor Day, etc.). Dates will be announced as early as possible for students to plan accordingly.
WEBCAM AND PHOTO
Students may be video recorded/streamed or photographed at practice, games, or events. Clips or pictures of the student may be used on the school website, YouTube pages, or other related media. These video clips will be used for promotional and advertisement purposes.
Students who attend Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy or Insight School of Oklahoma agree to the school webcam policy at the time of enrollment.

CANCELLATIONS
If the coach must cancel a practice, it is the responsibility of the coach to notify the team and parents, as soon as possible. When a game is cancelled, the coach may choose to hold a practice in its place. The coach will communicate this as soon as possible.
COMMUNICATIONS
A student may use their account to access other Discords outside of the control of our schools. OVCA, ISOK, and Stride cannot be held liable for what a student does on Discord. We openly ask and recommend that Discord is monitored by Parents, Legal Guardians, or Learning Coaches to further ensure your students safety. Our goal is to create the safest environment possible for your student to effectively communicate during games and build friendships in our student community. Please work with your student to set up these accounts.

CONCERNS OR ISSUES
One of the greatest opportunities for student athletes is learning skills for effective conflict resolution.
- Students or parents speak to coach directly to resolve the situation. Give a cool off time before reaching out.
- Parents and coaches may contact athletic director to discuss the situation.
- Parent may contact appropriate administrator – most often the student’s principal.
