Trimester one will come to a close on December 23, 2022. Parents will have the opportunity to review their child’s progress with the teacher during Parent Teacher Conferences on January 10, 11, and 12, 2023. Conference reminders will be sent home when we return from break.

Hi, my name is Tessa from Ms. Doyle’s class. My favorite strategy in math is using the number line. I love it! Hi ,my name is Gianna. My favorite goddess is Athena because I like the city- state Athens, which is named after her. Hi , my name is Emily and I really liked when we went into the STEAM lab to build a bridge for the gingerbread man. It was fun! My name is Kylee and my favorite subject is math. My favorite strategy is using the traditional way. My name is Carly and I really liked when we went into the STEAM lab and helped the gingerbread man cross the river. It was fun! My name is Makaila . My favorite thing about school is everything!

My class is learning about Ancient Rome. We’re also learning about the gods and goddesses. In math we learned division and multiplication. I became a Multiplication Super Star and knew 67 facts in 2 minutes. We already have 11 Super Stars! We are going to have a holiday party soon. I can’t wait.

Hi, my name is Jay from Mrs. Riccoboni’s class. I like learning how to do math. I enjoy learning multiplication. I draw egg nests to help me solve multiplication problems. Sometimes we work in groups in class and it is fun! I also like reading. Right now I am learning about Ancient Rome. Reading about the human body was cool. I sometimes get to go on Epic books to read also. I am enjoying 3rd grade!

Hi,my name is Brandon from Exploration Hour. I like getting to be creative in this class and getting to the wild side of my brain. In Exploration Hour, first we did research of what the project would be. For example, mine was technology glasses, so I did research on how glasses work. I would not be able to research things about technology glasses because they are not out yet. Afterwards, we wrote a 5 paragraph essay because we had 5 questions. We also included pictures. Then, after that we drew on a piece of posterboard what the invention would look like. Finally, we made visual models. They did not have to work (obviously), and they could be made out of clay, Legos, and any household items. I loved Exploration Hour and wished it was longer.

Hola, mi nombre es Brandon de Exploration Hour. Me gusta ser creativo en esta clase y llegar al lado salvaje de mi cerebro. En Exploration Hour, primero hicimos una investigación de lo que sería el proyecto. Por ejemplo, el mío eran anteojos tecnológicos, así que investigué sobre cómo funcionan los anteojos. From the desk of Ms. Gawalis - My enrichment students have been working so diligently throughout the first trimester, and I am eagerly awaiting the unveiling of their final projects. My third graders have been studying the history of inventions, the inventive process, and are developing posters highlighting their research and creativity. My fourth graders studied specific natural disasters as highlighted in their selected iSurvived books. They created visual models and are designing natural disaster prevention posters. My fifth grade “Exploration Hour” students engaged in purposeful research, invented original products, and are creating visual models of their inventions. I am proud of the ingenuity, thoughtfulness, and dedication that these students have put into their work this trimester.

Mrs. Pizzuto’s class has been learning about forces, machines and engineering in science. We have been exploring the concepts of push, pull and motion. We are also having fun experiencing the traditions and cultures of holidays around the world. Of course, we are showing so much progress in our math and ELA skills! I am so proud of our class!

Mrs. Rhoades class has been learning about different Holiday traditions. We have been focusing on Gingerbread traditions this week. We learned about the history of the Gingerbread tradition. We did a science experiment to discover which would make a gingerbread cookie crumble, Oil, Water, or Vinegar? Finally, we used our measuring skills to make Gingerbread cookies and our artistic skills to decorate them! We had a great time working together!

Our Kindergarten elves have been working very hard, so we have planned an eventful week to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year.

Monday, December 19th-Grinch Day-Students can wear their ugly holiday sweater to school or wear green to celebrate Grinch Day . We will be watching the movie “The Grinch.”

Tuesday, December 20th-Holiday Show

Please have your child wear their holiday best for our program.

Wednesday, December 21st-Reindeer Day

Students can wear antlers to celebrate Reindeer Day. We will be watching the movie “Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer'' and making reindeer food.

Thursday, December 22nd-Frosty Day

We will be watching the movie “Frosty the Snowman.” Please have your child wear a snowman shirt or bundle up in their favorite winter gear.

Friday, December 23rd-Twas the Night before Winter Break

Your child can wear their pajamas to school, and bring their teddy bear in a backpack. We all want to be comfortable as we work and enjoy a holiday movie. It will be a fun day for all.

The third grade students are learning about area and perimeter in math. They are also enjoying learning all about Ancient Rome.

Ms. Dutcher’s first grade class has been working so hard as we get closer to winter break! This week, we have been learning about Early Ancient Civilizations, specifically Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt. The children are really enjoying learning about how different people lived and survived a long time ago around the world. We have talked about the different kings, farming techniques and writing systems. This can seem like a really hard topic for first graders to understand, but I am so proud at how they are diving into it and learning new things!

Gawalis - Mis estudiantes de enriquecimiento han estado trabajando muy diligentemente durante el primer trimestre y estoy esperando ansiosamente la presentación de sus proyectos finales. Nuestros duendes de Kinder han estado trabajando muy duro, así que hemos planeado una semana llena de eventos para celebrar la época más maravillosa del año.
