STEP UP TO THE PLATE
The Hall Way...
Hello Warhawks!
One of my favorite traditions at Northwood is our annual Veteran's Day of Honor. Students get an opportunity to meet Veterans through our volunteer classroom speakers and participate in other classroom activities to honor their service. This year we are looking forward to being able to hold our assembly as this is the first assembly we have had since 2019. Please remind your student of the importance of being respectful as they participate in this special day. Thank you to our Veteran's Day committee and the staff for their dedication to making this day an important part of what it means to be a Warhawk.
This week we have a change in our routine as we do not have school this Tuesday (Election Day) and Friday (Veteran's Day). Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday are full days of school.
Second quarter progress reports will be updated on Thursday, November 17. Now would be a great time to ask your students how they are doing in their classes, do they have all of their worked turned in, and if they need to ask their teachers for help. All of our students and families have access to their grades in the Powerschool Parent and Student Portal. Students also use Canvas to support what is going on in class and they should be able to show you their dashboard and the pages for each of their classes. It is a team effort and we appreciate our families supporting our students and helping them Step Up to the Plate.
Tutoring is available! Check out the details below and sign up to get some extra support before or after school.
The Warhawk Weekly is our newsletter for families and students. Each week we will share important updates and information. Please contact the school office with any questions and/or concerns you have now or anytime throughout the school year. Together we can provide a positive environment for our students to be successful and to support them to STEP UP TO THE PLATE!

Help NMS Build an Outdoor Classroom
We did it! We have met our goal of 2000 pounds of caps!!!!!!!!!
Due to our school community's amazing effort and support we have met our goal to purchase enough benches for our outdoor classroom. We also had enough to purchase a recycling container too. WOW!
We are so proud of our students for taking on this challenge and bringing in their caps to help us meet our goal. Thank you!!!

News from the Nurse
Northwood Families,
Just a reminder that if your student requires any medication to be given or used during the school day, a new medication authorization form needs to be completed by a parent/guardian AND health care provider. If your student uses an inhaler or EpiPen and is able to administer those medications to themselves, then a "Self administration form" needs to be completed by both parent/guardian AND health care provider and returned to the health office. Those are the only two medications that a student may give themselves at school, as long as that form is completed and handed in.
Any ordered medications to be dispensed at school can be dropped off by a parent or guardian. The medication must be in the original, labeled, and unopened container, along with the medication authorization form completed. If the medication is over the counter, it still requires an order medication authorization form. Due to cabinet space, we ask that all medication is in a small bottle.
