October 2019

Patriot's Day

On September 11, Clemens High School's TX-82 AFJROTC unit honored country and individuals impacted by the events of September 11, 2001. A wreath was laid as a tribute to the lives lost and the heroism and bravery shown by first responders and average Americans alike. We will never forget.

Flu Vaccine Clinic

SCUCISD has partnered with Health Hero America to provide Flu vaccines for students on campus with no out of pocket costs. Flu shots will be administered at Samuel Clemens on October 21st, beginning at 10:00 AM.

To register for the flu shot clinic, download and complete the flu shot consent form from the SCUC ISD website. Please ensure ALL sections of the consent form are completed including parent signature. Students with incomplete consent forms will not be able to receive the flu shot. Please return completed consent forms to the campus nurse by October 14.

Welcome New Faculty Members!

The student population isn't all that's growing and changing here at Clemens. For the 2019-20 school year, Clemens welcomed twenty-three new members to its faculty and staff. A few more are highlighted below.

Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month

September is observed as Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. Students took part in theme days to raise awareness, while faculty members from Clemens and Steele took part in a "dry tri" event at Orange Theory in Cibolo to raise awareness, as well as funds for pediatric cancer research and programs.

Traffic Flow Assistance Needed

Parents and students,

We need your help with implementing the 2019-20 traffic flow changes on campus. We are still having some issues with the following changes not being followed:

  • When exiting the campus on to Schertz Parkway, all cars need to take a RIGHT ONLY. When cars attempt to take a left, it slows down traffic flow and causes a traffic hazzard with incoming traffic and crossing traffic.
  • The front circle drive is ONLY for special needs buses and school visitors. Student drop-off and/or pick-up IS NOT permitted in the front circle.

Please use the image on the left or this PDF to review all traffic flow changes that have been made for this school year.

In the Classroom, Around the Campus

Club Fair

On October 4th, Clemens held a Club Fair where the entire student body was allowed to peruse the numerous clubs & organizations offered at Samuel Clemens High School. Sponsors & student representatives were on hand to provide students with information on what clubs did, where & when they met, as well as requirements for joining. All of this is in-line with SCUC ISD goals of involving students in extra curricular activities.

Clemens Athletics

Battle of 3009

In a battle-to-the-end, the annual Battle of 3009 football game against Steele, Clemens emerged victorious, 28-23. As an athletic contest, the game pits school against school, but this year's game highlighted how SCUC ISD stands together in strength & solidarity in our community.
