Robert Menendez

Robert Menendez, also known as Bob Menendez was born on January 1, 1954. He grew up as young boy with immigrant parents in Union City, New Jersey. His mother worked as a seamstress and his father worked as a carpenter. Along with his two siblings, the family lived in a tenement building. He is known as being the first in his family to go to college. Later in college, he started public services at the age of 19. With hard work, Bob became a part of the U.S. Senate on January 18, 2006. He continues to be the Senator of New Jersey today!


Menendez started off his education at Union Hill High School. After graduating, he attended St. Peter's College in Jersey City where he received his first Bachelors degree in Political Science. Later he earned his Juris Doctor degree from Newark's Rutgers School of Law.

Work Experience

Besides being apart of the US government, Menendez worked as an attorney between 1980 to 1992. Bob has also been an author. Menendez was a school board member, a mayor and a state legislator.

Political Experience

From 1974 to 1978 Menendez was a member of the Union City Board of Education. Later in 1978 Bob Menendez was the Chief Financial Officer of the Union City Board of Education, but finished the role in 1982. As mentioned earlier in "Work Experience", Bob served as mayor in Union City, New Jersey from 1988 to 1990. Menendez served as the Senator of New Jersey from 1990 to 1992. From 1993 to 2006 Bob was New Jersey's 13th District Representative. Bob is started serving as New Jersey's Senator in 2006 and his term ends in 2019.
