From the Desk of the Principal
Friday, January 24 marks the end of second quarter and the halfway point of the 2019-2020 school year. This is a good time of year to check with your child to see if any school supplies need to be replenished. Report cards for Quarter 2 will be issued on Monday, February 3. Please be sure to celebrate your child’s growth and success for this school year. We are certainly proud of all their accomplishments, both small and large.
Parent/teacher conferences will be held on February 13 and 14. As a reminder, all students will be dismissed at 12:10 p.m. on both days. We encourage you to take this opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss your child’s progress in mathematics. Specific instructions on how to sign up for a conference were sent home yesterday. The window for signing up for conferences opens on January 30th and closes on February 11th.

Learning Together Program – Pre-school and Prekindergarten
The Bushy Park Regional Early Childhood Center (RECC) pre-school and prekindergarten programs are making preparations for classes for the 2020-2021 school year. These classes include children with and without disabilities. The program’s focus is helping all children develop communication, literacy, math, problem solving, motor, and social skills. Parents of children who will be 3 by September 1st or 4 by September 1st may obtain an application packet by contacting Ginny Price in the school office for an application package beginning (the last Monday in January).
All applications must be returned by (the last Friday in February). A limited number of openings are available for children without disabilities. Children are selected based upon screening information given on the application form, completion of the “Ages and Stages Questionnaires,” and observations of the child’s participation in a playgroup.
If you have any questions, please contact Katie Hereth at (410) 442-2448.

COMMUNITY NIGHT RECAP
Our community night was ROARsome! Lisbon students, families, and community members made 200 baskets that we were able to give families at our local food pantry and at several Howard County elementary, middle, and high schools. A handful of local schools in Carroll County were also recipients. Glenwood Jr. Honor Scholars helped with setup and checking each basket. Our event allowed families to pack multiple baskets, and our County Executive Dr. Ball came to support our event! We are so thankful for our wonderful families and community that donate items and time to make this event possible.
